Every time I see "the youth" brought up in the context of politics, economics, and freedom, I get a little confused because what I see & what I read are very different. Maybe I just live in a liberty microcosm or maybe there is a disparity between younger youth & older youth simply due to the rapid pace of environmental & technological changes? It wouldn't be the first generation to experience such a shift in a short period of time. Mine definitely did. Is this one too?

Both of my kids have attended an American public school that had signs railing against student loans in every hallway. They both learned about Bitcoin in personal finance, which is required class. They both hold btc. My oldest recently graduated & wasted no time moving out. He and his friends come to visit often & they always partake in our discussions of personal liberty, government overreach, constitutional violations, charity vs government-mandated charity, etc. My daughter, who has not yet graduated, holds strong opinions on these topics as well & she's willing to take on anyone who challenges her worldview. She's a lot more technology-oriented than her brother and integrates her online & offline life seamlessly. Her friends are a little harder to get to know since they're techies, (She's a Discord kid & he's an OnX kid 🙂) but I assume her & her friends must somewhat align since they hang out & whatnot. Both my kids see value in their work & will not negotiate it. They both have a healthy distrust of authority.

Now, I would be apt to think that a lot of this has to do with home environment & rural setting but when I visit with my sister's kids (who were raised by people equally neurotic as myself but in the opposite way & are very close in age to my offspring), I see a lot of the same values & principles that my kids hold reflected in them. They are excited about btc and the future. They see the gig economy as their path forward. They don't question authority as much as my own but they hold doubt. The area they are from is more liberal & more heavily populated than our homebase.

So I'm curious... has anyone else noted a difference in worldview between the current teens & young 20's? Or is this just a matter of locality? There are very few younger 20's around here that I talk to in enough depth to understand that group's take on things.

Isn't it possible that this will be the case on nostr in the future? I know it's a permissionless protocol, but couldn't it be that the only way to get anyone to listen will be through a paid relay?
