The actual human right (in UDHR from which EU human rights legislation was drawn) is to be permitted to found a family.

This means that it is a violation of human rights to prevent someone from *trying* to have a child (reality and consent permitting), not that a child must be provided to anyone who wants one.

It's effectively the same distinction as between equality of opportunity and equality of outcome. The right is for anyone to be allowed to join the race start line, not that everyone will win the race.

The problem with democracy is that it explicitly includes the possibility that people can vote to remove democracy.

That's certainly the case with the increasing numbers of Islamist immigrants pushing to impose Sharia law, although it is also increasingly the case with far left and far right elements as well. People have had it easy for so long they've forgotten what freedom actually is.

I am a centrist but sticking our heads in the sand due to not wanting to offend either the left or the right has not worked.
