What about multiple mints, with few users but only on onion net based on only onion LN nodes? Users could be protected but also mints should be .. the easy thing to shot down a mint is find its owner and point an fire arm in the head and asked him to stop running it .. but what if mints are many and without owner as is as their LN nodes?

Onion only mint and onion only wallet. This will give protection to the mint for the law and governments attack to the freedom , and will allow users to be anonymous also. You can set the env file to use your tor socks v5 proxy and accessing onion mints

You can run old tokens by -l option

So LN is very important to leverage bitcoin real power because it allow to use it as money. Well #cashu is not a replacement on LN, but could bring many improovements on bitcoin adoption. And it would improve custodial utilization if well used :

- cashu could be seen as a third layer, one over LN

- it works over http on a client server model ; cashu transactions are not affected by liquidity channels routing issues, neither to channels force closure issue too

- cashu will let you spending sats as easy as it is using a wallet client app for bitcoin onchain, as easy as using a custodial wallet LN app

- cashu protocol can work also with low bandwith , has been proved to work on lora networks; it could work offline too

- if wallets and mints run on onion net they could be completely anonymous and could protect both sides from seizures and other kind of bullish centralized controls; moreover if mints runs on onion network, wallet is forced to run on onion net too (everybody is safest). Mints and wallets are connected by the same destiny and should work in sinergy. This is overlooked but both have risks and this is a common link that give strenght to this symbiosis . I will return on this aspect and to the trustship between wallet and mint.

- probably you will hear this only here, but cashu could be absoluty decentralized. Running your own mint it is easy like running your own LN node! Well a lot of people could say that it is not easy at all running LN node 😂 , and probably this is the reason why LN it is so custodial .. anyway if people are able to run a LN node and a mint, they could share it with neightbours and friends .. this is still decentralized .. remeber! If LN should be used for small amount of sats .. cashu should be used with less amount too! However that will works for absoluty spending freedom, far away from the bad guys that want to control you by controlling your money. You will bring your sats from onchain, trough LN, till the cashu wallet as it'll needs in small amounts (nobody will hurts with this)

- with cashu, LN is reduced to minting and melting cashu token. mint's LN nodes have easy maintenance. They could be with private channels and need to be well routed (they don't need to route LN traffic, don't have rebalancimg problems, neither force closure issues too, just need to be kept well addressed). Remember! Few sats ammounts and choose an onion mint that you trust .. you don't need stack cashu sats! You have to spend them for your daily needs with fredom and far from fiat ransoms

- if after all of this years, LN own nodes didn't spread too mutch should be taken as fact: people probably prefers custodial LN solutions. well talking about wallet custodial solutions, cashu and LN have the same level of risks: you have to trust a third entity that could flee with your sats or obey to the tyrant of turn against you. However cashu gives the improovement that mint don't know how users spend the sats and who they are. So users are anonymous on that.

- using a mint on onion net is crucial ! enterprise companis have to obey to the tyrans (the ones that want [control] you to do kyc to grant to not funding terrorism(??), but terrorism is well funded by themselvs stealing you by printing money and paying taxes; the same is with the wars). Like bitcoin and nostr a mint could be without owner, no one to obey, nobody to blame .. completely freedom

If you are able to accept cashu tokens you can also redim at the same time on lighting network too. So if you don't trust the mint , just redim LN as soon as you get cashu token. The same risks that you have with mints you have with custodial LN. Plus you can run your mint as easy ad you can run your own LN node .. that will be not custodial with cashu too .. so cashu can be seen under a lot of point of sight ..
