nostr notes are forever if the network stay active

even in the case of full downtime you can relay asynchronously

imagine writing a series of stories, storing them on a usb drive or sending it via encrypted zip somewhere to then be broadcast to a relay and from there propagated

the inverse property of this is that once a note is broadcast, redaction becomes almost impossible unlike with centralised platforms. That is good for censorship resistance

but also not great for words one might regret in future

be mindful of what you post pseudonons

*correction*

wiped browser cache coracle.social link above now reads

"Sorry, we weren't able to find this note."

I also am unable to find the user account and thread within which the note was posted (for reference, it was Calle's account at #[3])

Seems there needs to be a mechanism to ensure relay-setup is consistent, and therefore the potential for the network to 'self heal' if notes get deleted or not transmitted to all relays...

Uhmmmmmmmm

the Iris.to webapp does not show it but the note still exists on the network and can be seen above in coracle.social - also visible via Nostros

What you post, once propagated, can not be deleted from the network.

Considering implementing a NIP for self-destructing messaging in future.

*adds to ever-expanding to-do list*
