7 day moving average is under 8000 now based on #Nodeyez panels generated from nostr.band

Im on a fairly tight budget so generally forgo traditional opt-in subscriptions like Netflix, Amazon Prime, Disney Hulu, Max, CBS, Crunchy Roll, YouTube TV, Spotify, SlingTV, Peacock, Fountain, Orange Pill App, etc. Instead I budget gas money and food and drink for Bitcoin Meetup excursions.
From a content perspective I used to subscribe to a few patreons. But I found that early or exclusive access really wasnt providing enough value. Similar to GameStop PowerUp Rewards/Pro, over time it becomes either noise (content too often) or buried/lost in my inbox.
I think the subscriptions that I like the most are those that
- provide a base service I use
- provide some extra stuff that isnt essential to the base service, but sets it apart from competitors
- content being focused on how to get more functionality from the service, by using customizeable features. In the form of medium/substack/blog and/or video
Any content that is widely disbursed through dozens/hundreds of related news outlets, videos or podcasts is not something ID pay for.
Lol. Antennas near subway and train stations must be totally screwed then
w3.do 🌎
URL shortener service enabled by the NOSTR protocol!
- create a shortened URL - no sign in required, just paste your link and get the shortened URL
- create shorten URL API - developers building a client and need to shorten some URLs? GET https://w3.do/get?url=
- 301 redirect for all resources - its faster to redirect and its permanently pointing directly to the resources, you can embed the URL as if you are embedding the original URL
Will be useful when it supports nostr event types
Oof. Im still not convinced on them, particularly as its a radical shift granting miners a role they didnt have before
But.. but.. its showing as verified!
Nobody would be allowed to put on interwebs if not true!
Interesting use of diff for this
Gotta be cautious on this one as these can inadvertently bring up bad memories as has similar attempts by Facebook and Google. Mostly cool though.
Could track most reacted/replied/referenced/boosted note per npub over the course of a year and reveal that on anniversaries.
nostr:npub1h50pnxqw9jg7dhr906fvy4mze2yzawf895jhnc3p7qmljdugm6gsrurqev showed me a cool relay i never heard about until today

“All notes with 10+ interactions”
Wen relay of notes only from those named Ben?
wss://feeds.nostr.band/bens
I like the idea of read only relays based on some metric or keyword. Can setup accounts to just watch those sort of like lists
Interesting to get files not present in both directions as that too can be useful.
The piping to xargs is not as performant but I like having alternate means
Listing filenames present in one directory that dont exist in another:
ls -w 1 /path1 | grep -vxFf <(ls -w 1 /path2)

What would a 2020's prize money inheritance look like, and how much would Brewster need to spend on "fair value goods" in 30 days to be realistic to you?
Brewster's Millions is a comedic novel written by George Barr McCutcheon (Richard Greaves) in 1902
There have been many screen plays based off of the novel.
The 1902 novel: Grandfather leaves Brewster $1 million in a will, but a competing will from another relative requires Brewster must spend the $1 million in the first year or forfeit a $7 million inheritance from the other relative.
The 1945 version: Inherit $8 million but must spend $1 million on fair value goods, without keeping any assets, within 60 days.
The 1985 version: Receive $1 million upfront or inherit $300 million but must spend $30 million on fair value goods, without keeping any assets, within 30 days.
I recently listened to WBD693 with nostr:npub1rtlqca8r6auyaw5n5h3l5422dm4sry5dzfee4696fqe8s6qgudks7djtfs and nostr:npub14mcddvsjsflnhgw7vxykz0ndfqj0rq04v7cjq5nnc95ftld0pv3shcfrlx where "Brewster's Millions" was mentioned in passing.
Having never seen the movie i went digging and watched the 1945 version. Highly recommend.
The podcast was also pretty good 🤙

As a kid the 1985 version was one of my favorite movies. I never considered others even existed or that there was a book!!
I think in the current era, the final amount would have to be over $1B, and perhaps needing to exhaust $100M in 30 days still, with extra stipulations - no political bash parties, and no more than 1 buy high, sell low of an NFT. Perhaps $100M is too high. Its difficult to scale that side without outright destruction (no wrecking a bunch of lambos or burning Gucci and Prada crap)
Yes. Ive actually used that service to broadcast messages before. I'll be setting up after TABConf and have been prepping the work area
