linux does but the folders and naming conventions seem a special structure
I need help with podcast stuff, as a consumer...
I have an ipod.
I plug it in.
Thankfully linux recognizes it and i can open with Rhythmbox to see whats on it.
I want to get all episodes of a podcast. I find the RSS feed and Add to the Podcast view in Rhythmbox, click subscribe, and close that view, return to Browse. I can select items and add to local play queue.
What I cant figure out is how to put them on the ipod. Anyone know what im missing?
And no, using a Mac, or Windows or iTunes is not a solution here. I remember trying to use iTunes years ago and it was a confusing hellscape and required logins and apple ids.
Anyone know how to make an ipod like attached file storage so i can drag and drop a file? Do they even make mp3 players that can do that anymore?
About 20 years ago I visited London. While there I walked around the nearby neighorhoods taking in the sights and cultures.
Indeed it was in multicultural London that I came to understand Pizza as a platform food and can be prepared in a variety of ways and with assorted toppings so long as it has a form of bread foundation and sauce. But I digress...
In Hyde Park I learned of Speakers Corner, and was curious about what things people spoke on. Today I wonder if it still exists, and how it fared during covid. Are people allowed to speak about the government? Is there anywhere in the world where free speech is allowed to exist no matter your skin color, gender, beliefs?
Coracle looks really great other then the performance issues i run into with my setup. it does make me wonder if there are low bandwidth / low resource focused clients out there
I dont have good metrics as my testing here is anecdotal from my dev machine which is dated (2010). Think of a used laptop you gave away, that in turn went to someone else. slow compared to phones. on the upside it has a physical keyboard.
Using Firefox. Took nearly a minute for first load and seems to then start loading events in chronological order as it took some time before newer DM senders and messages appeared.
finally got it to come up after a few hard refreshes.
Direct messages are good in it
- responsive
- shows multiple images per message
- understands lightning invoices
Something it doesnt recognize is npubs in a message to link to that account.
i cant even load snort.social on my laptop right now.
try using different adapter? is it spinny disk, sata ssd? usb adapter?
Been trying a few different browser based nostr clients for direct message handling
satellite.earth - direct messages are slow, and dont support rendering line feeds
coracle.social - very very very slow on my development laptop (8gb ram, amd phenom 2 triple core) from loading the universe.
primal.net - decent, but only renders first image in a DM, doesnt recognize lightning invoice payment request strings
So I bought a House π¬ π³ https://video.nostr.build/042dc9f532c49934f9f8488afbc42238ef78dd748348bf913d18aec85aa00617.mov
nice opportunity to gut it and improve with new wiring for power and networking
ive just discovered that https://satellite.earth makes the json available
Completely agree, especially on the JSON. Only client i know that makes this readily available is Gossip and I miss it when Im using other clients. Exposing the JSON would help people see how it works.
yolks

im just happy every time someone posts something insightful or gives me a chuckle
why limit like this?
Sample

Not only that but i get pestered more often for updates and reboots from my ubuntu mate install than windows these days
one of my favorite amethyst client features is hidden words. if content of event contains specified phrase its hidden from view. more signal. less noise.

Opt Out by Seth for Privacy is essential listening
theres so much to show for it though!
After an absence from Nostr, I'm sure nothing has changed. Probably nothing new in the last month...

more people are slowly finding nostr. im still finding and following accounts. lots of development going on behind the scenes, some slow methodical. check out some lists and follow more
i cant remember who shared the other day but its good
