I’ve decided I’m going to save the Bitcoin gift - likely in the form of a software wallet I setup for them - for HS graduation.
My kids think bitcoin is some crazy hobby of dads, and kind of dumb (son is coming around as he sees the return on the BITB etf in his Roth). My ex would probably tell them to sell it.
My sister’s 4 would also probably sell, and are very clueless about money beyond gift cards and tik tok influencers 🙄.
So crazy dad/uncle gifts begin with the class of 2026, lol

The ones I know fall into 2 camps:
Guys with deep, intricate conspiracies of how it is going to take over all finance.
Or
Guys who work in banks, who view it as the ‘institutional’ / ‘banker’s’ coin.
Both are also convinced staking and returns on it are the future. Same guys who got burned by Celsius et al 🙄🙄🙄
I agree. This just like ‘surge’ pricing with Uber, etc.
People flipped when Wendy’s was about to do this several months back, but it makes all the sense in the world. If a burger is $5 from 11-1 & 4-6, but $4 outside those hours, some percent of people will adjust when they consume.
My business offers sales and discounts in our slow season.
