Example: many node runners start out frantically rebalancing channels when they go slightly askew. But I haven't manually rebalanced a channel in over 2 years now, I just adjust the channel fees up when the balance on a channel goes too far to the "remote" side and down when it goes too far "local". There are even scripts like charge-LND that can help you automate the fee adjustments: https://github.com/accumulator/charge-lnd

Rebalancing costs money and also unbalances the channels of your peers, so the fee policy + waiting is a far better strategy than manual circular rebalances in my experience.

Another great liquidity solution is to open channels in a group with a Ring of Fire. If you're ever looking for new channels and want to participate in a Ring of Fire let me know! It's a channel opening strategy that nets you 2 perfectly balanced channels for the price of opening just one.

I know a guy.

Actually I know too many guys. Ever since I met you I've been trying to merge those bubbles haha

Many artists have self-hosted after wanting to be featured on shows, so you can't pretend it's not effective.

Artists are not being "hurt" by this. In fact, many are being helped a great deal. It has been far more effective than the repeated ongoing attempts at persuasion via thumb-generated internet text. But being online we can't help ourselves, I'm just as guilty as anyone of misunderstanding others and being misunderstood myself in text-based debate.

Yeah this sounds like something the Montgomery City Lines would have been saying in 1956. After all, when has a boycott ever brought attention to an issue? When has it ever been a useful tool for a small, marginalized minority who is otherwise ignored or laughed off to make a statement?

They can boycott decentralized music on their own player, but a music show can't return the favor? Please.

What use is it to talk openly to deaf ears? We've been openly discussing this for over three years and we only get tut tut patronizing reactions. But we will carry on regardless, as per your advice.

“Woe to you, teachers of the law and Pharisees, you hypocrites! You are like whitewashed tombs, which look beautiful on the outside but on the inside are full of the bones of the dead and everything unclean. In the same way, on the outside you appear to people as righteous but on the inside you are full of hypocrisy and wickedness." Matthew 23:27-28

Trust me, you don't want the smoke.

I’m aligned with most of what’s being said by you and nostr:npub19ha7tju4teqp3dmwv4p28wrcy9zd6h6hxkg5mwvjrlfycweazpkse2q0fa but it seems very ideological for a very niche thing. Is your electricity coming from a decentralized network? Do you pay a company for water? I would want every aspect of my life to be decentralized before I hate on a company for taking 10% for providing a service and having terms. All love for your values, I just don’t want to hate on a thing that’s actually apart of helping artists get paid.

Spotify = Artists don’t get paid.

Wavlake = Artists need to trust to get 90% of listener payment and then also have the freedom to move to a new host. It’s a completely different situation.

Nice false equivalency.

If I could decentralize utilities, I would. I can decentralize v4v payments for digital art, so I do.

Wavlake claims to be a decentralized solution but runs a walled-garden service with a single node and a centralized catalog. They blog about one thing and do another. It isn't super complicated. 🤷‍♂️

Thanks! FWIW Amethyst also looks to respect the NSFW tag I used. Not on iOS so I'm not sure how Damus handles such posts, but I always do my best to tag sensitive content appropriately.

This is the internet, stop pretending to be new

This is how it shows up in my client, with the need to click thru:

Hmmm I'm not sure, been a few years since I messed with BTCPay. Maybe I can hop on a call tomorrow night if you're around

interesting. There should definitely be a route since we have a direct channel together. Did you choose to use your internal node when setting up the BTCPay server?

P.S. the ring of fire email will be coming today, sorry for the wait 😅
