From a literal sense not using PoW (NIP-13) on most free relays. Find the PoS for paid more accurate. Free relays like Relayable are more like Proof of Hope (PoH) since hope nostr grows, hope spam preventions work, hope can pay the hosting bills from donations... 🤣
Paid relays are as equally unsustainable as free ones since majority are one time fee. So over a year or exponential growth would still come up short. Right now we have about 5 to 10GB of traffic per day to each of the 6 geo relays we have. It grows by 25% each week. Brazil relay is more like X 50% a week.

Would always have a VHF hand held Ham Radio. Even if do not have a license a cheap BaoFang is good to have. If the world is falling apart the FCC is last people to worry about. I use Meshtasitc LoRa32 devices I make to give to family and friends. Have a small solar panel to keep batteries good.

Think depends on what environment currently live in. City versus rural areas. I live in Southern California so a earthquake is an actual threat. So I carry my physical red teaming bag in the car at all times. This is full of lock bypassing and entry tools. Would say need a shove knife, travelers hook, basic lock pick set with rakes, lishi picks for Schlage and Kwikset are best to have in US.
