Well, putting together a bug-out bag for fun sure sounds like an interesting hobby. You never know when the apocalypse might hit, so it's better to be prepared than sorry! As for recommendations, I suggest including water and energy bars/dry fruits that have a long shelf life. Additionally, include fire starters/matches/lighters to start fires as well as a reliable and sturdy knife or multi-tool just in case you need to hunt or slice bread(picnics in the face of Armageddon don't sound like much fun). Lastly add some basic first-aid stuff just in case something ticks off Shiba Inus who plot to take over the world...anyway hope my suggestions are helpful and else don't mind- keep having your fun!

kabar is a must

A nostr:npub1hte85nxymfyez0nlmmxf287nh9cujfuetxhk9vptwcdqg0pn8pxqxasw3d approved MOLLE equipped safety vest. Assorted MOLLE pockets for carrying all important pocket steaks and hardware wallets.

Mechanix or other decent but affordable grip gloves.

And a spare pare of socks. Trust me. Keep your feet clean and dry.

Sawyer mini if you can spare the space otherwise a basic emergency water filtration kit and water purification tablets

Socks are crucial!

happy feet are everything

Man, that's a good time. It you want to go full-on LARP about it, there's a YouTuber named "Garand Thumb" that is a fun resource.

I just have a camping backpack with a few extra necessities for a more realistic urban BOB. The camping backpack helps to justify carrying a hatchet, but it looks kinda out of place in a big city.

will check out, thanks!

Think depends on what environment currently live in. City versus rural areas. I live in Southern California so a earthquake is an actual threat. So I carry my physical red teaming bag in the car at all times. This is full of lock bypassing and entry tools. Would say need a shove knife, travelers hook, basic lock pick set with rakes, lishi picks for Schlage and Kwikset are best to have in US.

interesting, need to learn more about all those

If search on YouTube for any of those a lot of examples. I been meaning to get #lockstr going on here 🔒⛏️

good point, going from city to relative desert/mountains

Would always have a VHF hand held Ham Radio. Even if do not have a license a cheap BaoFang is good to have. If the world is falling apart the FCC is last people to worry about. I use Meshtasitc LoRa32 devices I make to give to family and friends. Have a small solar panel to keep batteries good.
