Why do you believe nostr was much more active year ago? What do you think changed the attitude of nostr users?
I mean what is the reason why you installed zap locker
Isn't doing a CoinJoin on KYCed coin is a red rag for any CEX?
Why would you use that?
I am not sure about intelligence part (I am not judging anyone here), but indeed nostr has pretty high entry barrier comparing to usual social media.
A judge just ruled that Tornado Cash is to be removed from the OFAC sanctions list.
The court found that Tornado Cash smart contracts do not constitute property, finding that Tornado Cash software is not covered by the IEEPA's.
The court found that while "OFAC’s concerns with illicit foreign actors laundering funds are undeniably legitimate," "perhaps Congress will update IEEPA [...] to target modern technologies like crypto-mixing software."
"Until then," the court found, "we hold that Tornado Cash’s immutable smart contracts (the lines of privacy-enabling software code) are not the “property” of a foreign national or entity, meaning they cannot be blocked under IEEPA, and OFAC overstepped its congressionally defined authority."
This is hugely good news for anyone developing privacy software and will likely have a positive impact on Roman Storm's trial, where it is debated whether the court may criminally charge the developers of software.
s/o to all the people that fought for our right to privacy on this ❤️

(this is a developing story – we'll update this article as we go through the information available): https://www.therage.co/fifth-circuit-lifts-tornado-cash-sanctions/
I am not sure what they meant by "update IEEPA [...] to target modern technologies like crypto-mixing software" - in the long-term would they legalize the punishment previously made regarding Tornado Cash?
I use nos2x-fox (for Mozilla Firefox)
There are some Bitcoin users who simply do not want to hear anything good about other cryptocurrencies. You won't convince them anytime soon.
There are still some banks who hates anything slightly related to cryptocurrencies.
While I do agree with you, I think you missed another point - people expect a software product to introduce new features periodically.
Nah we don't do that during wartime here in Ukraine, no reason for Europe to have it either
I like this idea, unsure how it is the best to implement UX-wise
It is a good idea but hosting expenses end up in fiat for following reasons: datacenters (I mean real ones who are corpo) and electricity bills are always in fiat. Given Bitcoin to fiat exchange rate is fluctuated, and unfortunately in the short-term might be actually decreasing, it is really hard to define prices in satoshis.
Technically, we already do - we collect gateway fee for almost all fiat payments (Stripe for example)
Makes sense regarding stagnation, but I would say that it is preferable to use Bitcoin as a reserve currently rather than main currency used for accounting purposes.
I was thinking about how to price things, for the next nostr:npub1purpleye8gzrzss99nzqqnemtf7g8xxj8p950nkyknnuqzycuh5qnazkzp retreat.
There's no real incentive to price in euros, anymore, as the money they pay might end up not covering costs, because of the amount of months you have to reserve, in advance. But, if you price in satoshi, the people who pay a bit later could end up paying much more (because of the conversion from euros, that they'd usually have to do) than the people who got tipped-off about the meetup, first. Which is sort of unfair, and could even end up being some ridiculous amount. On the other hand, it gives people an incentive to reserve a spot, earlier. Should probably have people pay, in tranches, to smooth things out.
Generally, having people pay for larger purchases or subscriptions in tranches, with the tranche-calculation closer to real-time, seems to be a sensible way of dealing with the volatility.
Decisions, decisions...
As long as a business has expenses in Euro (like we do), there is an incentive to set prices in Euro.
No problems so far, runs smoothly
Regarding proposals - I think the easiest solution is to use inbox so that follower notifies the one who they follow, then they add it to an encrypted list for caching purposes
When unfollowing, unfollower notifies the one who they unfollow and the entry is removed from encrypted list (used as a cache)
Any thoughts?
So far it is the only issue in nostr I don't like
But it might be actually a tradeoff between precise users (well followers) count and privacy
