Yeah, I had a similar issues and am struggling with blue wallet myself but only for the wallet I created that’s attached to my node. Other than that, when I created a wallet using Blues LNDhub then it worked fine.
Do you know why other wallets weren’t working? Which ones did you try?
The easiest wallet to use is ‘wallet of satoshi’. And it supports the function needed here for nostr

I look through the map on https://nostr.watch and pick the relays in a region that have the highest uptime percentage
Is this showing every relay available or just ones that have chosen to add their relay to Nostr.watch?
How do you decide which relays to connect to? What’s your criteria?
