If you never listen, the podcast “acquired” is fucking awesome.
The most recent episode is about trader Joe’s.
Is there some interesting facts on the episode:
they don’t have sales or variable pricing.
every product in the store is reachable by someone who is 5 feet tall
trader Joe primary market is composed mostly of young professionals and retirees. In other words, people shopping by themselves. For this reason Trader Joe’s focuses on hiring extroverts that are more inclined to chat with customers.
They turn over their entire inventory 60x per year. I.e.- they turnover every item in their store more than once a week.
Employees only stock shelves during operating hours.
They pay for all products on delivery instead of net 30. This is HUGE for
They don’t advertise.
this is a big one: they don’t collect data on their customers.

As a father and someone who is genuinely optimistic of a nonviolent path to a better future because of bitcoin, the last few days have been tough. This podcast is worth a listen regardless of politics and definitely inspired me to keep pushing towards the third way. Ignore the sound bites and listen to the whole thing.
I asked Grok, “Explain the difference between bitcoin core and knots” and this was part of the response haha “Key Differences
While both clients adhere to Bitcoin’s consensus rules (ensuring they don’t create incompatible forks), their differences lie in philosophy, features, and policies. Bitcoin Core acts as a “trust-me-bro” default for broad adoption, whereas Knots empowers advanced users with more granular control, often to filter spam and optimize resources.”
It’s been a long week, time for a little beer and grill. Beer is an IPA from Georgetown brewing in Seattle.

GM, I was in the mood for some green tea and honey this morning. Have a productive day 🫖🍵🍯☀️

I’ve begun to secure my supply of real milk again, this stuff is absolutely delicious.

Anyone from Seattle area care to chime in? I’ve been able to arrange a Thursday Friday off for work so I’m hoping to go in September, but I hate using meetup.
Just got off work for the weekend. Soaking up some sun on a 70 degree evening and grilling up some burgers with an ipa from Georgetown brewing in Seattle. Looking forward to doing some hiking with the family tomorrow, I hope everyone is having a great summer.

Smoked and seared tri tip with some French wine.

I don’t think this is knocking owning a property to live on, rather real estate as an investment vehicle for long term savings.
Despite the reputation that Seattle has for being a rainy city, this is probably the most sun and time outdoors I’ve ever had during the summer. The temperature and humidity are perfect for getting outside compared to Vegas and Chicago.
#heartandsoil hooked me up with a cool new bottle design for their Independence Day sale on pure American liver. Get organs in your life and whatever way you can.

For anyone who has been to bitdevs in Seattle, does it consistently meet every month? On Meetup the activity seems sporadic. If I re arrange my work schedule the last week each month I want to know there is an actual meetup happening. #asknostr
Mt. Rainier popping up on a clear dear from Elliott bay. #Seattle

Seattle is a beautiful city. Lots of pockets of nature preserved throughout the city. This is a couple of minutes from my townhouse in city limits.
