PROJECT SAMBAZA FURAHA
We want to give you a little insight into what we did over the past few months.
Thanks to the donations, we are able to achieve various things here in Arusha. With the donations we are able to provide urgently needed goods to various institutions. We have been able to buy things like food supplies, mattresses, shoes, school uniforms, books, pens, hygiene products for women and much more and deliver them to the institutions. Besides that we could pay the school fees for some children.
In addition, our project differs from typical “development aid” in that we not only provide needed goods, but also share the joy of music, movement and dance and aim for physical education. We play games, we dance, we enjoy spending time together with the children in all the institutions we are allowed to visit. We adapt our program depending on the age and level of the children and young people.
The Sambaza Furaha project works in close cooperation with the FTS (from the streets) dance group. These men are educated dancers and dance teachers.
On site, we play physically activating games that primarily serve to bring joy to the children. We want to get them out of their very monotonous everyday lives and give them our time, affection and joy. In addition, we train physical and mental skills in a playful way, something that is often neglected in the children's everyday lives. At the end of each session, we rehearse a short choreography.
The best part of the whole experience is seeing how happy these children are. They smile from ear to ear. They are happy that someone is coming to spend time with them. They are happy that they can move around, that they can listen to music and give their energy a place to come out. They enjoy life and that is the most beautiful gift for us. After each visit, we ask the children what they have learned or how they are doing. Their answers are heartwarming.
We would like to take this opportunity to thank all donors from the bottom of our hearts. All of this is only possible because of you and your donations. Without the money, we would not be able to do any of the things we are doing here on site. We wish you could see the joy yourself we can bring here thanks to your donations. Perhaps the photos will help you to get a small insight into how your donations are invested and what we are doing here in Arusha.
It would be so important and so good if we were able to visit the institutions and children again and again. We don't want to see this project as a one-off campaign. Our vision is to continue what we have just started in the long term. To continue to share the joy that we can see in the children's eyes and on their faces every day. Chris was born and raised in Dar es Salaam and lives in Arusha for 8 years now. He is a passionate dance teacher and dancer in his own crew @fts_crew.tz.
Norina was born and raised in Germany and currently lives in Arusha, top. She has just completed her studies in sports science last year.
We met in November 2023. Since then, we have visited several institutions and done various things there. We share this story with you bit by bit or even on instagram @sambaza.furaha.tz.
