ask for nostr'rs..... you will be overwhelmed

As long as the "free" is real and unlimited and you scale that power potential to your generator and plan your to your set up around that its literally as easy as plugging in a miner anywhere.

Only difference is maintenance costs of your generator set up & maintenance.

Loop AI recommends a hardware wallet for Christmas.

Via Ethan Mollick The ability to download a decent, fully functional LLM with vision in one click that you can easily run on your own computer or carry on a USB feels cyberpunk as hell.

Instructions from @simonw (for windows just add .exe to the file name & that's it):

The EU Council just formulated new regulations (eIDAS 2.0) requiring persistent digital identifiers for every person and banning advanced encryption to protect those identifiers. The regulation also allows member states to further require that these identifiers be UNIQUE to each person.

These persistent, unique identifiers will be used in the EU Digital Wallet, which the EU_Commission has mandated every member state provide by next year (2024).

The eIDAS 2.0 regulations would require EU governments and companies doing business in the EU to create massive honeypots of data about every person touching their services. Moreover, the regulations *require* web browsers to trust state-issued Certificate Authorities even if they are known to be unsafe.

The fascist and communist governments of 20th-century Europe could only have dreamed about these levels of surveillance and control.

Civil society must push back by developing fully self-sovereign digital identity (#SSI) and using it wherever possible. We can’t go back to a pre-digital world, but we can shape our digital futures by building alternatives to the systems of control being forced on us. #OptOut

(Parliament and Council have reached a provisional agreement. The Parliament’s Committee on Industry, Research and Energy will hold a final vote on December 7.

And yes, the Wallet will almost certainly hold CBDCs. https://agenceurope.eu/en/bulletin/article/13302/38

Yes, they seem confident this will pass.

(And you are right. When totalitarianism comes, it will be because people want to deny foreigners/illegals/criminals access to services and benefits that they believe should only accrue to “honest” citizens.

Unfortunately this is also how it has been playing out in the U.S. It may just take a little longer to get to a full “centralized ID wallet” here.)

Have you watched "The Creator" 2023 (the movie)? It was better than I expected. Interesting that it has had so little attention given the AI concept.

We'd gain a lot of ground, 'cause we'd both give a little. There ain't no road too long when we meet in the middle. I'd start walkin' your way, you'd start walkin' mine We'd meet in the middle, 'neath that old Georgia pine - Diamond Rio-

Hot take: there is only 1 ocean

Second answer: there are four because the Artic is a sea (for me).

I would bet that most OG bitcoiners used WOS because lightning is something they support financially and academically, but they stopped spending significant time managing it a while back. They all run full nodes, they all use mutlisig and an assortment of passphrase enabled single sigs, cause when you have that much BTC, chump change in a custodial wallet is no more loss than fiat inflation is stealing from your fiat source/stack (it's a deliberate decision). The staying humble part of stacking Bitcoin seems to be in short supply with many active Nostr accounts last 48hrs. The fight is ahead and my guess is many of you are going to comply in ways you currently don't think possible because you're more focused on #WOS than the foundational concepts.

Thinking about which US State is the most self-sufficient is an interesting thought experiment. But more interesting is to consider "self sufficient" in terms of which state has the greatest conditions currently to financially and logistically florish when separated from the federal government. Maybe Texas?

Help? Looking for a recommendation for a new Linux Laptop, Advice welcome!

I am looking for a laptop that is more powerful. I will probably use it as a daily driver for general special projects and exploration (ie not dedicated to something specific like the others).

I am not a pro by any stretch of the imagination. I am just committed to learning (as slow as I am), I like to separate stuff, currently I run separate machines with Qubes, Mint, and Pure OS on mostly older hardware for different purposes.

I am considering the Nitro Pad NS50 maxed out with Ubuntu 22.4 LTS (preinstalled): https://shop.nitrokey.com/shop/product/nitropad-ns50-488

Appreciate any recommendations or advice.
