Locally, yes it would be a database before it leaves the node, which is the whole reason why my project can operate the way it does on a 3rd party platform designed for virtual currency.

It just so happens that this database is then able to transfer guaranteed value/liquidity to another database/bank/node in seconds and even find a route without a direct connection if needed without requiring nearly as much trust as with traditional banking/settlement rails. Lightning fixes the banking payment and settlement layer.

We have a long way to go for every working fiat system to be replaced on a Bitcoin standard but it's important to be able to model the Bitcoin ecosystem relative to the current systems so that we know what we have and what we need. Money is Broken, but many of the systems in fait land are still fairly magical all things considered.

I'm tempted to write a book on exactly this topic but I have no time. If Bitcoin goes to 1mil I'm going to do it.

Something that always surprises me is the amount of small things that devs could do with little effort vs the amount of effort put in otherwise. Take nostr for example. It would be very easy to support multiple NIP-05 aliases even if it's not in the person's profile. Seriously, just look at the nostr.json in the appropriate location and deliver the npub related to it whether or not it is listed on the profile. This would allow people to be found by multiple identities. Imagine a business domain, a nostr.pleb or whatever, a gaming profile [playername]@minecraftstr.com or whatever all able to point to the correct and singular presence. This would allow for business applications to adopt Nostr more easily. Picture a teams or zoom like app that you can link to your email address with an underpinning of a Nostr profile.

What I can't get over is that although Nostr is uncensored entirely, I see none of the nastiness of war, porn, death etc. over here. The viral video component that came with the Xitter engagement for payment algo seems to have been a net negative, despite there being more features like streaming etc.

Even though I'm a Catholic which has a more significant belief on the role of the Church and also in some cases causes judgement from many reformed/protestant denominations. I have far more in common with my brethren who strive for uniformity to the will of the Father and have a relationship with Jesus rather than those who are "members of the Church" alone. It's sad when the internal presuppositions of individuals get in the way of that which unites us. This can happen within any denomination within the Christian fold in both directions.

when you say credit card do you mean debit card? Also would you say that an ecash wallet is superior to bolt cards other than the fact that you can use ecash offline? Comparing to fiat world, most merchants try to avoid offline credit card transactions because there is no guarantee that the funds will be available once the transactions are attempted at the end of the day when back online. In a similar way, ecash would allow for falsifying a double-spend while offline

I think the coolest part about being in a Bitcoin circular economy IRL would se seeing price stability in sats and then over time consistently see the prices going down as the price in fiat terms goes up. using sats as the primary unit of value will change the perception of value. Yes! People who claim Lightning is dead or doesn't work just don't understand where and how it fits into an entire model. My game would not work without Lightning. There is no blockchain that would allow in game transactions at the speed required without it running on a local node.
