Cloudillo at FOSDEM 2026

We’re thrilled to share some exciting news: our talk proposal has been accepted at FOSDEM 2026! We’ll be presenting in Brussels this January, and we’d love to see you there.

What is #FOSDEM?

If you’re not familiar with it, #FOSDEM is Europe’s largest free and open source software conference. Every year, thousands of developers gather in Brussels for a weekend packed with talks, workshops, and hallway conversations about everything from kernel development to collaborative tools.

For an open-source project like #Cloudillo, presenting at FOSDEM is a meaningful opportunity to connect with the community that shares our values: transparency, user freedom, and building technology that serves people rather than exploiting them.

Our Talk: Cloudillo — Beyond Self-Hosting: Building a New Generation of Collaborative Applications

Self-hosting gives you control over your data, but it traditionally comes with a trade-off: #isolation. Your #NextCloud instance can’t easily collaborate with someone else’s. Your #self-hosted #documents stay on your server.

During the talk, we’ll explore how Cloudillo addresses this challenge. We’ll cover:

The isolation problem — why traditional self-hosting limits collaboration

DNS-based identity — how we enable global collaboration while keeping data decentralized

Building federated apps — how developers can create applications that work across independent Cloudillo instances

The vision — cloud convenience with self-hosting freedom
