Republic of Plato hard copy, possibly for the second time but I can’t remember for sure if I’ve actually read it or just seen so much reference to it that I just thought I had. Just finished Gaia’s Garden by Toby Hemenway hard copy the other night. Started a biography on John Locke on my kindle last week, and just finished Earth Awakens by Orson Scott Card on audio Thursday. Next audiobook is ā€œLies My Doctor Told Meā€ by Dr Ken Berry.

No it’s not. I generally have to resort to punching a hole in the bottom one, which isn’t a major deal as I use the leaky buckets for plants, but it’s still a pain to punch a hole in a new bucket lol. If I come up with something I’ll send it your way.

I don’t blame you. Plywood ain’t gonna last long. Good for a quick make it work situation, but I’m glad you’ve got a plan to make it more like a deck with solid wood decking. I will give you a word of caution though, pallet strips are normally about 3/4ā€ thick in my experience, which may end up leaving you with some sag. Codes in the US generally spec 5/4 decking (1ā€ actual) with a 16ā€ on center span between joists (works out to about 14 1/2ā€ open space inside of joist to inside of joist), and that’s on 2x6 joists. I am not generally one who follows codes because ā€œit’s the codeā€, but in this case doing less than the code usually winds up with some saggy/spongy feeling deck.

I say all that to say that when you go to put those boards down, place enough to stand on and give it a jump test and see how it feels. If it’s spongy, I’d add a 2x4 center of the gap and that should bring you to a good place without much expense.

I do appreciate Mazda’s newer models. This is a 2015 CX-5 and look how easy this oil change is! 2 screws and a plastic pin to remove the dust cover, and then bam, it’s all right there, no moving the oil drain pan 73 times, just boom.

Yesterday was a beautiful day and I didn’t have to work anywhere, so I Used some scrap pieces of lumber from building my shed to make a rack for all my scrap pipe and hang my car ramps so I don’t have to weedeat around any of it anymore.

Had to resort to chemical warfare for the fire ants, tried soap and vinegar and so far it would only take them about a week to rebuild. Hoping this bait granule stuff will knock them out good.

Today is oil change day for the family car and then I don’t know. But first we have to wait for the mama to get up and going even though me and the youngin have been up since 615. I kinda can’t wait til she’s old enough to do this kind of stuff with me but also don’t want her to grow up lol

Speaking of buckets, have you by chance come up with a better way to store empties? I have somewhere between a boatload and a bookoo, and I need a better option than stacking them inside themselves (cause they inevitably get stuck).

I did all 5 volumes of Conceived in Liberty on Audible. It’s the only way I can complete books in a timely manner. I’ve been trying to get through the paper form of Gaias Garden for over a year and conceived in Liberty took me a couple weeks lol

I got near as many .22 options as I do anything else lol

Solid plan. That oughta make a right decent deck quite honestly. Even maybe a touch overbuilt.

And yeah, I legit started buying those powerpros just for that container and no lie a brick of 555 winchesters fits perfect.

You gonna sheath it in anything or are those gaps not as huge as they appear?

Also, those power pro screw containers are great for bricks of .22LR….it actually hurt my soul when I found out the deck rite brand was actually stronger and cheaper cause I’ve still got a boatload of bricks that need better containers lol

I didn’t figure so. Setting up a ā€œmobileā€ plasma cutter ain’t cheap. My buddy has been building out his own service truck for about a year now, it ain’t been cheap lol
