My mom has had declining cognitive function for years, and it got a lot worse last year to the point where she was almost nonverbal.

I put her on a protocol of:

Ultrasound stimulation, 5 minutes 3x per day

Red light therapy, 30 minutes 3x per day

Low dose Methylene blue + magnesium and threonine

Light exercise

Improved ambient lighting conditions removing excess blue light

After 3 months she is starting to initiate and hold conversations again, and already seems to be a lot more 'present' than she was at the start of the year. I was skeptical, but the results have been rather profound, especially given that it's only been a few months.

Salmon with tomato golden oyster mushroom cream sauce on rice

While the salmon and rice didn't come from the homestead, the tomatoes and basil came from the garden.

The golden oyster mushrooms came from the maple sugar bush. The cream cheese was made from our sheeps milk and we baked the bread too.

I'm going to miss all the fresh veggies and wild foods over the winter.

Electricity transmission infrastructure is ugly to many people, but I generally find it to be uplifting. Maybe it’s because of my original profession.

Electricity is one of the biggest quality of life enhancers for people, and so transmission lines give me a sense of development and progress. Distribution lines are often haphazard looking, but transmission lines generally have a bigger and more organized appearance which kind of appeals to my sense of order.

In forested areas they tend to be more subtle/hidden, but in deserts they’re just kind of out in the open.

I’d say I wish Tesla had gotten electric transmission without lines effective but when you think about it, would you really want to be in an electron bath?

What’s something you learned that completely changed how you saw everything?

I’ll start:

When I found out that being healthy and losing weight wasn’t about spending hours exercising & running miles every day, but that 90% of the battle was just about removing horrifically unhealthy (and very normalized) chemical substitute, grain heavy, “fat free”, and sugar packed foods - but was just about getting back to the basics and animal based fats. Everything else is crazy easy after you do that.

Then to add, that your mood, depression, energy levels, are also SO insanely dependent on that same problem.

I'm narrating a 30-minute video about money, and it's clear why I didn't narrate my full book Broken Money myself (and instead got nostr:npub1h8nk2346qezka5cpm8jjh3yl5j88pf4ly2ptu7s6uu55wcfqy0wq36rpev to do it. It's very hard, and my voice is particularly boring when reading.

In the near future, I think AI will be good enough that it can learn someone's voice and then provide top-tier narration. And for example it could be told, "alright that's good, but make it 50% more charismatic. Make it sound like Lyn is at least trying." and it'll be able to do that.
