For a people with the technical skills, there easy ways to protect your information in a cold storage fashion.
Remember when Ledger was hacked?
If I fail, I only want myself to blame.

Might add that I think the absolute best option is to find people in your local community willing to buy/sell BTC to you.
I'm surprise to see there isn't more effort out there trying to bring people together to trade among themselves.
I guess it is because someone is always wanting to get in on the trade by charging a small fee.

I used Bisq many moons ago, but in my opinion it has become way to complex to use.
Robosats is so straight forward and easy to use I'd recommend starting with it.
check out nostr:npub17tlh448s3tfdfgymehqdkdn52as59qsrax0n9h58pk54wcmqyc2qklzsxj for watch tower swaps https://lightningnetwork.plus/watch_swaps/
Thanks, I'm following @LightningNetwork+ now. Hoping to find a dependable node to do watch_swaps. Running Watch Tower now on my home server currently.
I have active a Lightning Node (SANJOSE_UBETCHA) running in Oracle Cloud running since end of January. I could potential open new channels but since LND is still beta I don't want to risk too much more in channels.
I'm also looking for a reliable lightning to share WatchTower duties with.

BTW, The Oracle Cloud instance has been running on their free-forever offer. I'm surprised more lightning nodes are not taking advantage of Oracle's Cloud free-forever offer. There only a total of 19 nodes running there the last time I checked.
Wonder if we'll ever see the uncomfirmed transactions to back to normal again.

Running BTC full node from home server (linux). Using PowerShell scripts for starting, stopping, and checking on the running services such as LND, mempool, and etc.
Actually, it is pretty simple once your over the hurdle.
My husband basically orange-pilled his extended family this week while on vacation at the Red Sea.
They went from barely knowing what a bitcoin is to wanting to allocate a nontrivial amount of their savings to it. I was more of the conservative one because I donβt want to cause people to allocate beyond their level of understanding.
I have a much lower charisma score than him, so I just kind of watched it happen, and then pulled out a nostr:npub1az9xj85cmxv8e9j9y80lvqp97crsqdu2fpu3srwthd99qfu9qsgstam8y8 satscard and explained how it works for some physical flair.
They like the orange coin now. Having your national currency get cut in half relative the dollar in 2016, and then having it happen again in 2022, tends to make one more receptive to monetary alternatives.
If an individual doesn't understand the history of the fiat monetary system and it's short comings, orange pilling them will go over their head.
Thinking about migrating to Graphene OS and eventually ditching my iPhone. For those using Graphene OS with Google hardware is it really more than just a beta implementation yet?
Down to just running one Lightning Node now, SANJOSE_UBETCHA after having 3 running nodes.
It is a great learning experience, but there is absolutely no way it will ever cover the hosting cost of a Lightning Node.
SANJOSE_UBETCHA is running on Oracle Cloud free-forever instance is the only reason it is still running.

If USD was still backed by gold (value based) BTC would not exist.
Might add stay off of social media platforms too.
