A lot of the opinions of the edgelord era (roughly early 2010s until around 2020) seem cringe in retrospect, mine included. There was a lot of discontent with the world at that time and it came out in edgy ways. But it hasn't aged well.

Why I don't particularly like PUAs:

It has nothing to do with moral-fagging - as you know, I don't care.

The problem is that they're advocating for becoming something you don't really want to be, for dubious rewards.

If you pay attention, the advice involves changing your behavior to be more attractive to a certain type (young, hedonistic) of woman.

But men arguably should become more of what they want to be and less of what others might temporarily find attractive. Somehow it happens that strong men who are just minding their own business attract plenty of female attention anyway, because the female will to power leads them to want to seduce men who have something going on.

Also, the PUAs are too focused on sex in general. This might make sense if you are 22, at the peak of your physical prowess, and your chief aim in life is fornication. At age 40, that might not make as much sense.

But arguably, even 22 year old men could make better use of their time, although their insistent sex drives might make that hard at times.

Last but not least, it's hard to verify just how successful the methods will be. Anyone can say anything online, but the great teacher is experience. From personal experience, I think PUA techniques can certainly give you a temporary advantage but the success rate is never going to be 100%.

It also just might be a matter of passion - either you can make yourself care enough to pursue that way of life, or you can't. Some of us here would struggle with maintaining the passion.

Going to the gym or to dance classes, you can be around hot women and feel energized by them (that's one effect they do have) without the troubles of more risky behavior. But you decide what's right for you.

In sum, there's nothing inherently wrong with PUA but you must follow your own inclinations as to whether there's anything there for you in the grand scheme of your life. It may be that they just give you some general principles to follow vis-a-vis women that, had you not learned, would put you in danger (like being a simp, marrying a whore, and then having your life ruined). In that case I guess it's a public service.

We all knew this anyway.
