There has been some chatter about services that specialize in bootstrapping like this, DHTs, nprofile servers, etc. I'm staying out of the server-side of things, but happy to subscribe to such things when they exist.

I had something very odd happen to me this morning and I don't know what to make of it just yet. My Lightning Address was different on some clients. To me on Snort, it still showed as pay@derekross.me, but that could have been cache. On Damus, Astral, and metadata.nostr.com it was an LNURL address that resolved to LNBits.com. I don't use LNBits.com.

This morning I used a new client, Ananostr.com by #[0] right around that time that I noticed the change. However, I used the nos2x extension as I always do.

I mostly only use Snort and Astral on my desktop, though I have used iris.to a few times.

On my phone, I use Amethyst, but I've also used Daisy with my private key. All of the other Android clients I tested were used with a burner key.

Hrm. I am very, very confused right now.

Now I am reconsidering. I think it should be less specific. It should be something like: "you search, and whatever response the relay gives you, that's it, relays are free to use their own algorithms as they please". What do you think?

Maybe instead of "keywords" the attribute could be named "search_string".

Imposters could still swim into your social network if people start following them. Iris has "publicly flag user" feature, but maybe there should be a distinction for the reason of flagging: unwanted content, impersonation, expired key etc.

yeah rsslay is the other way around. Though you could in theory use rss.nostr.band to generate an rss feed for a keyword/hashtag, then use rsslay to create a nostr profile that mirrors those posts, effectively making a hacky way for any client to follow hashtags!

I need a service that takes in a regular url and caches a mipmap of the image for on-demand access of the app at different sizes.

Even better if it comes with an easy-to-use Android lib.

Couldn’t this be further alleviated if apps cached profile pics? As far as I can tell, Damus does that.

Or do you mean from the firehose of new profiles constantly seen on the global feed?

Profile pictures, and now banners, are definitely the problem. Text isn't an issue. Text is small. I blew through my entire data plan of 10GB in less than 8 days on my phone and I'm on track to hit 2TB at home this month. Normally, I am on average around 1.5TB.
