Why would a relay store a transaction that is already confirmed on the blockchain? You mean more like another side chain for stables like lightning for bitcoin? I don’t think that this is strictly necessary in the web3 space of stablecoins. That problem is solved (unlike bitcoin, there is a plethora of side chains already that optimize for speed). What’s not solved is:

1- the metadata layer

2- connecting Nostr to web3 (afaik)

For 1, I just built a prototype for using Nostr as the metadata layer for web3: https://txinfo.xyz

(Work in progress, see also GitHub issue for implementation discussion about it: https://github.com/xdamman/txinfo/issues)

For 2, how could we connect your Nostr nsec to a web3 wallet to move stable coins? Has anyone worked on this yet?

Been working on this for the past weeks. Feedback welcome! #askNostr

Add metadata to any blockchain address or transaction using Nostr.

In particular, see this first issue regarding the kind to use:

https://github.com/xdamman/txinfo/issues/1

(This is a first prototype, not production ready, use at your own risk)

Let me contribute.

Civilizations eventually die under the weight of their own administration.

We become so fearful of any abuse, that we end up adding more and more regulations, and new administrations to control their application.

Today, our technical debt —or admin debt— is so big that we have an army of people, paid by our tax money, not to create value but to get in the way of the people who try to.

The first person we had to hire for the @commonshub_bxl is someone who ends up spending half her time doing admin. It’s crazy. Then we also pay an external person to do the accounting. And now someone else, at the administration, is paid to verify that we did it all properly.

One economic transaction, 3 people paid to ensure proper reporting. Crazy.

The only way out: open source everything.

Instead of putting the burden on entrepreneurs, put the burden on the community.

That’s how the Internet grew. eBay, YouTube’s biggest realization was the idea that you should let anyone share. Every friction point should be removed. Instead, enable the community to flag bad behaviors and abuse. Trust by default and empower the community to quickly react whenever needed.

What if our administration would work the same way?

Contributing to society, to the community should be as easy as contributing to Wikipedia.

Let people opt in to start an open source organization. All financial transactions would be open for everyone to see. In exchange, the administration stays out of your way. No paperwork, no reporting. They just send the bill for paying your fair share (also in a transparent way for everyone to see).

I’m not intro entrepreneurship to become rich. I don’t have a car, I stopped flying, I don’t need much. I just want to solve problems, create value, contribute.

Let me contribute.

What kind did you use to link notes to the YouTube video? 1111 with the #I tag?

Getaway week outside of Brussels to focus on work. Can’t recommend this place enough. And they accept bitcoin.

A dot after a url in the text breaks the url. Also, I wouldn’t remove the url from the inline text. It messes up the comprehension of it.

I have an idea for a small project to get the opportunity to work together (if you are up for it)

I did this side project a few years ago that people keep on using: https://openletter.earth. I think it’s a great candidate for a refactoring using Nostr.

It gets quite a few donations that we can use to pay some development time, see https://opencollective.com/openletter

Lmk if there is any interest. Happy to get on a call to chat more.

🇺🇸 US: Yang

🇪🇺 EU: Yin

Yang needs to protect the Yin.

Yin needs to respect the Yang.

Will the US let another Yang (Russia) penetrate the Yin?

Will the EU divorce from the US?

The same natural polarities play out at all levels. ☯️

With that it’s already time to take the train back to Brussels. Thank you to everyone who contributes to maintaining and developing this public infrastructure. Public goods are good!

Had such a great week in the French Alps with friends (3 dads, 4 kids). So proud of my daughter who is so good on the slopes. It’s getting harder and harder to keep up with her!

Do you have a developer that knows enough about lightning and Nostr that could help? This could be a concrete project with a concrete outcome: a home for nostr:nprofile1qqsdc8dhmzvvclfgf3hwcevla6az3ufu3zq286xe8067s73a56ny4vcnnrcml to share transparently their funding and costs.

I wish I could work from here for a month or two. But it’s just not possible when you have kids in the good old school system. And homeschooling feels like too much of an investment. We need something in between.

Holidays are starting. On our way to the Alpes ⛷️
