From my interaction with the legitimate crisis actor I met, and my general experience of actors, is that they don’t think about any of it that deeply. They internalize a great deal of “I’m just a vehicle for the director’s vision”. And they’re driven ultimately by attention and money.

Also, it’s an industry. Like the people in the film industry work for a different company every week, FEMA does these, DHS does these, CIA does these, and a gazillion private actors like Open Society Foundation do these too. I’m saying Thiel, who burned 45 mil on an unwatchable biopic about a NOBODY hillbilly could easily have funded a faux assassination attempt

They are paid mercenary free agent actors, usually with stunt training. They get as little info as needed to show up, suit up, and follow the script. I’ve actually met one in real life. And it tracks with my experience in the film industry. It’s just a job, and they are paid to do it. (Sadly, though, unlike real movies, they can’t draw too much attention to themselves because they can’t be reused. Although, incredibly, they do get reused all the time which is truly hilarious. But speaks to that tension between “you’re good at this, you’re reliable, we should use you again if we can get away with it”)
