Conversation with my people during the weekend:
Them: 'But why do you want to watch this over Oppenheimer?'
Me: 'A squirrel with green laser eyes who has written some of my favorite Bitcoin content told me to and I trust its judgement'
Then: '..... wtf is wrong with you?'
💯 curated timelines is so useful
Your taste in entertainment has never failed to surprise me ever since I started following you on Twitter
Network states leveraging pseudo-corporate, smart contract based blockchains to be adherents to arbitrary sets of values.
Local governments leveraging open internet protocols to develop while remaining rooted to their culture, history and tradition.
Which way Indian man?
Long-form podcasts are amazing
Zap pools on snort.social are very cool
Baby steps

Second chapter of blocksize wars so far and this feels like reality tv
'Hearn and Gavin did what now? Ooh SPICY'
'Satoshi said that? So what fuck if I care'
It's been 80 days since the Indian state of Manipur was cut off from the open internet
Amethyst has a Tamil version as well
Nice!
I don't trust e-mail for auth. SMTP is not reliable.
I don't trust a blockchain for auth. Not scalable.
I don't trust DNS for auth. Not transparent.
Key pairs is good.
Internet maximalist.
That's what I think my position is.
The ability it proffers on a non-descript nobody from a relatively unknown city to watch Feynman's lectures, read Dostoyevsky and Orwell, be uncensorable and be his own bank.
This is what it's all about.
From this vantage point, the goal is as clear as anything:
To somehow devote my time to developing a skillset with the goal of contributing to the development of protocols, standards, initiatives and organisations that break down borders and enable a borderless flow of information and value.
Everything is so raw and chaotic on nostr I love it
Oooh imagine if I had the choice of posting to one public relay but not others right on my create post page
All my bitcoin related posts in one relay and stuff related to football in another
That'd be sick
People who don't want Bitcoin posts can simply opt out by not connecting to that relay
The perils of premature protocol ossification, a talk by Jameson Lopp
I realise that my mental models for understanding the internet and having an overview of how it all works is informed by big tech people, vc's, entrepreneurs or thinkbois on YouTube.
This impacted my understanding of Bitcoin as well.
I have to spend a lot of time on this I feel like. Will probably take a decade I think, and that's okay.
The goal is to understand how local governments can leverage the existing open protocols of the internet to attain a certain degree of autonomy.
All the layers, standards bodies like ietf, w3c, iana and icann, coordination between ISP's , autonomous networks, etc. There's quite a lot that make up the internet as we know it, that I have very little understanding about.
