But Costa Rica taught me and helped me understand the beauty of the sport and experience

Living in a Caravan:

Hot Tip number 2.

Everyone has jobs for pack up and pack down.

Assign everyone tasks, they do it each and every time in sequence.

Everyone knows their job, what needs to be done and when to do it.

After just a week on the road we have setup and pack down pretty streamlined. (Mind you we have owned this van for a few years now, so it is not foreign to us)

The kids have their jobs and love being involved in the process.

I make sure to thank them individually for their help and let them know how much their efforts contributed and how grateful I am.

More than inflation, I have a deep and impassioned hatred for shitflation.

I’m happy to pay 2x premium for a product if I know it’s really built to last a lifetime, but because we live in nihilistic fiat ripoff society it’s damn near impossible to find great products that are built to last. It suck to have to replace shit every 5 years that should last a lifetime.

Day 4

Starting to settle into holiday mode.

We had done 2 x walks, 2 x lookouts, schoolwork, groceries and filled up the car all by 10am.

Rest of the day was sun, surf and sand.

Couple of swims, soccer practice down in the sand.

Steaks and home made sweet potato fries in the air fryer for dinner….

Walk after dinner and now ready for bed….

If this is what the next year is going to be like….. I am all for it.

Agreed, and there are so many great resources to help learn skills now with the Internet. I think a lot of people want to take the easy path though. They don’t want to put in the time and practice needed to learn a new skill, or are afraid of the failures that are always part of the learning process.

It’s valuable to learn some basic skills to be able to fix things yourself. Not just basic car maintenance like changing a tire or battery, but also home maintenance - things like fixing a tap, replacing a door lock, repairing a hole in a wall, painting etc. Some basic understanding of electrical circuits and electronics are also great skills to have. Just a few that I made from the past couple of days.

I haven't been able to travel anywhere interesting, so I make due with what's around. This is all by where I live. The weather has been really great; high of 75, lows of around 40 at night.
