For the more technically inclined, I'm trying to help someone answer the following questions but don't quite know all of the technical details to help provide a nuanced response:
While Tails loaded and used from a USB drive provides solid privacy, neither leaking data when connected over Tor nor leaving a trace on the machine in question, what would the security risks be of running Ubuntu or Mint off of a USB drive and connecting to WiFi with a VPN and/or Tor enabled?
Assuming that the person using the latter strategy doesn't save any data to the USB drive and can secure the drive itself, would there be any major risk to that strategy for day-to-day operations?
The person in question's threat model does not include nation-state actors. The person simply wants to gain a bit more privacy when connecting to work laptops or public machines when out and about.

That just sounds like intermittent fasting! I've followed a similar protocol off and on over the years. These days, I'm doing something called OMAD (One Meal a Day). Many proponents think it's fairly healthy. For me, it cuts down on excessive snacking during the day and forces me to choose slightly healthier meals in the evenings.

Looking at the proposal on abolition of the Department of Education, that sounds like a brilliant plan:
"Project 2025 recommends abolishing the Department of Education, whose programs would be either transferred to other government agencies, or terminated. Basic research would only be funded if it suits conservative principles."
I'm less keen on politicizing research, but the general principle of minimizing government spending on all of this is great. Let the states, towns, or even individual families work together to arrange a better model. Perhaps, we'll see a huge push towards homeschooling or even community microschools. That would be a big win for our learners.
