Although I am prejudiced against AI, I love asking ChatGPT questions. It's bonkers at times (has trouble accepting Leo XIV is the current Pope and still thinks Taiwan holds the China seat on the UNSC) but, yumpin' yiminy, its answers are detailed.

"I often run across memes online with the phrase “Hurt people hurt people.” This means that people who have been hurt turn around and hurt others. It is assumed that since they’ve never experienced any healing from the hurt, or even justice for it, the wound festers and they respond by hurting others.

I sympathize with the rationale behind “hurt people hurt people.” It’s hard to be sensitive to other people’s pain when your own has never been completely healed, or the ones who hurt you seem to continue on happy and healthy as if nothing happened."

The conclave to elect a new pope begins tomorrow, May 7th, which is the Memorial of the Apparition of the Holy Cross over Jerusalem.

Quote: "Commemorates the appearance on 7 May 351, Pentecost that year, of a luminous image of the Holy Cross in Jerusalem. It stretched from Mount Golgotha to the Mount of Olives (about two miles / three kilometers), was brighter than the sun, lasted several hours, and was seen by the entire city. It led to many conversions, and was reported in a letter attribued to Saint Cyril of Jerusalem."

Most recent conclaves have been over with in 2 days. May 8th is a feast day of an Apparition of St. Michael the Archangel.

Quote: "This feast day commemorates the 5th-century appearance of the Archangel in Monte Gargano, Italy, near a cave now known as the Sanctuary of St. Michael."

Hello World! Testing blog editor posting. Is this thing on?

Quote: "“I opened my eyes and I could see perfectly,” said Jimena, a 16-year-old Spanish World Youth Day pilgrim who said she miraculously recovered her sight after receiving the Eucharist at Fátima, Portugal, during a Mass there."

There are Buddhist specific recovery groups and programs. For example: https://recoverydharma.org/

Are there Catholic specific recovery programs and/or groups that people who are in recovery utilize and find helpful?

Sounds like the elimination or downgrading of the Church (Shepherds) as the authoritative voice for interpreting the Holy Spirit and leading the faithful (sheep.) While we all can hear the voice of the Holy Spirit by virtue of our baptism and Confirmation, we do not all interpret the Spirit correctly (witness the 10s of thousands or Protestant and Evangelical denominations, all who claim to hear the Holy Spirit.

Quote: "In 1965, the federal government financed more than 60 percent of all R&D in the United States. By 2006, the balance had flipped, with 65 percent of R&D in this country being funded by private interests. According to the American Association for the Advancement of Science, several of the nation’s science-driven agencies—the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), the Department of Agriculture, the Department of the Interior, and NASA—have been losing funding, leading to more “outsourcing” of what were once governmental science functions. The EPA, for example, recently began conducting the first nationwide study on the air quality effects of large-scale animal production. Livestock producers, not taxpayers, are slated to pay for the study."
