Follower of Christ. Defender of liberty. Aspiring cypherpunk. Atypical homesteader. Nostr only, mostly because I had already dropped everything else as a toxic mess. You can send me a private DM via SimpleX: https://simplex.chat/contact#/?v=1-2&smp=smp%3A%2F%2FUkMFNAXLXeAAe0beCa4w6X_zp18PwxSaSjY17BKUGXQ%3D%40smp12.simplex.im%2F7_b1iX90gPiMa7K8NEUNNc8d2hLoy78K%23%2F%3Fv%3D1-2%26dh%3DMCowBQYDK2VuAyEAITsikJr0WDbvgphFlM90xs3QAIZiVKYf35cIqy3PZhk%253D%26srv%3Die42b5weq7zdkghocs3mgxdjeuycheeqqmksntj57rmejagmg4eor5yd.onion

I some watch Invidious (YouTube) content that’s optimized for landscape

It’s almost seems like rational actors have rationally responded to a known and reliable monetary policy 🤯 nostr:note1529yxjwsm2jzkxwr3nwm3gk2p0xez4edhzr6wl7v36kcya7ymqwqwvrsel

Ok, my first response was kind of dumb/generic.

Here’s my second dumb response:

I really enjoyed this past year on Nostr. I worry about an “Eternal September” type event that changes the Nostr experience for me, like how reddit was awesome then became pretty insufferable for some reason

I also more so worry that as Nostr grows it will mishandle the spam problem and other growing pains. Hoping we can find some clever technical solutions to keep it in line with the values and culture it represents today

I learned a very useful life lesson years ago in a course on emergency medical response.

In a crisis some people lose their mind and can be a net negative on a situation: their actions actually make everything worse rather than contributing towards the situation. This can sometimes be mitigated if you can task them with something to keep them distracted. Ideally it’s something at least marginally useful like keeping a record of a patient’s respiration or heart beats per minute, but the point is to direct their energy into anything not counterproductive.

I’ve applied this a few times in life while working on group efforts. Sometimes people are, for incompetence or any other reason, actually a net negative on contributions. It’s essential to find them a task they can dive into. Ideally you can help align it with their strengths and help them be a value add, but at a minimum it should mitigate the damage they can cause. They will need to believe the task is important regardless if it is to really get buy in and it needs to be simple enough they can handle it autonomously without it causing more work for the people who are able to contribute.

Wish we could use zap escrow to stop #nostr #spam:

For example: Set a relay or client to only accept replies with 21 sats in escrow. If marked spam by the person they are replied to, the relay operator and/or user keep the sats. If not, they are returned to the sender.

(False reports are naturally limited as people won’t reply to people who keep falsely reporting spam)

All voluntary, no cost for non-spammers, etc

Would be better than VPN blocks, nostr:npub1xtscya34g58tk0z605fvr788k263gsu6cy9x0mhnm87echrgufzsevkk5s

Not online (actually intentionally offline), but I’m very interested in the curriculum as it focuses on students self directed learning.

Good book list here:

Simple but still yummy and nutritious! Good choice

#Linux users disagree… others will be hearing my distro recommendations 😅

(And I’m guilty as well 🙋‍♂️)
