John 1:1-4 — In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God. All things were made through him, and without him was not any thing made that was made. In him was life, and the life was the light of men.
Do understand that St. John is claiming that the very axioms/truths/laws of the universe are infact the person (the 2nd person of the Trinity) Jesus who is the Logos (reason, logic, etc) incarnate... God incarnate. He is using the same language we see in the Genesis narrative on purpose.
