nostr:npub17sha6ku2fxgt7k268u5kedl5pn25dqrd6v9eqem7kj3s2248mnfs7x6e06 It's sometimes a bit hard to tell with the young ones, but I think it's a house sparrow. Looks like a tiny little dinosaur!

nostr:npub17sha6ku2fxgt7k268u5kedl5pn25dqrd6v9eqem7kj3s2248mnfs7x6e06 Yep! According to the weather report, we're getting two whole days without rain🤪

I think it in a lot of ways, you and I are very lucky to be alive at this time. You will get to see more of the back end of this change than I will, but seeing the world changing to more sustainable and healthy technology is a real privilege.

nostr:npub17sha6ku2fxgt7k268u5kedl5pn25dqrd6v9eqem7kj3s2248mnfs7x6e06 That is true! But I also worry that we are alive in the time humans chose to eradicate themselves in stead of reacting quick enough🤨

I started that post in order to give you the link, and then forgot to put the link in when I got sidetracked on other crap. Here's the link:

nostr:npub17sha6ku2fxgt7k268u5kedl5pn25dqrd6v9eqem7kj3s2248mnfs7x6e06 Heat pumps are becoming more common here too. And boring for what we call "ground heat" (geothermal heating). Electric heating is already very sustainable in Norway, as most of our electricity comes from hydroelectric plants. We have plenty of that here, no gas never made much sense, except in cabins who are not connected to the grid.

My in-laws have kitted out their house with both ground heat and solar panels on the roof. It's not gonna take many years to make up the cost. Great stuff

Now look here. Whippersnipper, daylight savings time is God's gift to the world. And should remain in place year round. He the advice of your wise old fart friend. In spite of him being an idiot sometimes. 🤪

You don't have copperhead snakes do you? This is the one who took issue with my ankle a few weeks ago. He was pretty scared by that point having had Pooh dog barking at him for 5 minutes or more.

nostr:npub17sha6ku2fxgt7k268u5kedl5pn25dqrd6v9eqem7kj3s2248mnfs7x6e06 Thankfully, we do not😬 We have one venomous snake in Norway, and I could do very well without that one too😕 Hope your ankle is back to normal.

Wifey🥰 Gotta get that hot shoe fixed for some fill-in flash😄

My friend is commented several times on how they are still building houses with gas boiler heat instead of using solar and wind. He says that none of the new houses have solar panels on the roofs.

nostr:npub17sha6ku2fxgt7k268u5kedl5pn25dqrd6v9eqem7kj3s2248mnfs7x6e06 That's so dumb. It's far from ideal here, but at least there are incentives and monetary support for building solar panels on roofs. Both for new and existing buildings. Sweden is great at that stuff. We've never used gas in Norway. Everything is mostly electric, including stoves.

nostr:npub17sha6ku2fxgt7k268u5kedl5pn25dqrd6v9eqem7kj3s2248mnfs7x6e06 Yep. There was a huge debate in the UK press about it last winter, because the gas prices were so high and people couldn't afford the heating bills. One of the things mentioned were that they really have to start insulating houses better.

nostr:npub17sha6ku2fxgt7k268u5kedl5pn25dqrd6v9eqem7kj3s2248mnfs7x6e06 Everyone I know who have lived in the UK were horribly shocked at how cold their buildings are in winter. And their winters are a lot milder than ours😆

nostr:npub13ft3erhfetupawg5trykfkdjps7npam6fa97z3h603xq0c5fwy8qxmq8u2

I had a huge argument with my friend in the UK last summer. When they went up to 40C. They had no fan. No air conditioning. No nothing. And we're convinced that fans were terrible because they made too much noise and you couldn't even think around them. And they were also dirty. I had to argue for weeks to get them to get a fan to protect themselves during that temperature.

nostr:npub17sha6ku2fxgt7k268u5kedl5pn25dqrd6v9eqem7kj3s2248mnfs7x6e06 The big difference between Norway and UK is that our buildings are very well insulated because of the harsh winters. A side effect of that is of course that they don't let in much heat in summer either. So it's usually enough to have a draft going through the apartment and the temperature will be ok. Saying that; when the climate change gets even worse, air conditioning will probably start becoming normal here as well. UK buildings generally have terrible insulation or none at all!

On the other hand, you guys aren't prepared for hot weather at all there. Do you have a fan, btw?

nostr:npub17sha6ku2fxgt7k268u5kedl5pn25dqrd6v9eqem7kj3s2248mnfs7x6e06 I blame my ancestors. Us blue eyed vikings aren't genetically prepared for heat. Snow storm? That's fine, no problem at all😂 I do actually have a fan, but it just gives me sinus ache🤪

nostr:npub13ft3erhfetupawg5trykfkdjps7npam6fa97z3h603xq0c5fwy8qxmq8u2

It's been so hot and dry here that I've been having to water my trees because they're beginning to drop leaves.

nostr:npub17sha6ku2fxgt7k268u5kedl5pn25dqrd6v9eqem7kj3s2248mnfs7x6e06 Urgh, that's terrible😖 June was unbearably hot here, but July has been mostly rain and around 20C. Not too good for everyone on holiday. Typically, the sun will return in August when everyone is back at work. This has been a pattern for years now, along with the climate changing. Some people have started to suggest moving the holiday month.

nostr:npub17sha6ku2fxgt7k268u5kedl5pn25dqrd6v9eqem7kj3s2248mnfs7x6e06 🥵🥵🥵 I would not do well in that heat, I'll take rain and 20C any day😆 The eastern parts of Norway got it really bad yesterday though. 45mm of rain in one hour!😳 That's like the normal average for two months around here.

nostr:npub17sha6ku2fxgt7k268u5kedl5pn25dqrd6v9eqem7kj3s2248mnfs7x6e06 Too cloudy here right now, unfortunately. Just grey, grey and more grey skies😐 Been raining for three days straight. Got some big floods in the eastern part of Norway.
