It seems to me that as a species we are really bad at dealing with chronic issues only acute ones both in a bad way and in a good way. For instance compare the hoopla for Covid vs the slow grinding obesity/diabetes/autoimmune diseases crisis where we are sleep walking into a catastrophe (well we are already there really). Then we want quick returns on shitcoins, scammy investments vs the long term benefits of BTC. Also because this is not acute we do not notice inflation (well until recently and in the west). All about delayed gratification, we see and want only quick benefits and avoid short term pain but cannot see long term benefits and avoid long term pain because of this inability of noticing and responding adequately to chronic pain and benefits.

I was orange pilled in Nov21 by my ex gf. I thanked her again yesterday for that. I did some shitcoining at the beginning and as i read more and more realized where real genuine value was.
