Lately into native gardening, woodworking and small carpentry. Excited about the potential of Nostr and the open Internet.

This was a lot of work! Next time I'll try to be more brave about removing material down to a slimmer form.

Second stool done this weekend.

First stool. Pretty proud of it! Wood split from log, hewed with axe, shaped with knife and hand sanded. Finished with linseed oil.

No machines, nails, screws or glue.

First big bowl

That map projection isn't maintaining proportion though, which might detract from your post... Alaska isn't almost as big as the rest of the States combined.

Another little bowl today...

Candle holder?

Just the basics: simple carving knife and hook knife, sandpaper. Finish with linseed oil. I'm just a beginner but I enjoy shaping the wood slowly with my hands.

A little carving I did earlier this summer.

Carved a little bowl this weekend. Not sure what wood. A bit chunky looking but I enjoyed working on it in the crisp sunshine.

From the tiny house to the chicken compost system into the food forest then to the rabbit colony cannabis garden with pitstop for a spliff and finishing with the sheep, another day at the homestead.

Thanks for sharing this glimpse into life on your homestead.

Made some smashed sunchokes with my early spring harvest. Tasted richer than in fall, and just as farty.

Mechanization of everything saved us so much manual effort that people need to go to the gym out find other artificial exercise in order to stay healthy.

Does AI mean we'll need brain gyms?

We live on a small planet which circulates everything though it's dynamic systems. You can't throw plastic "away". It will end up inside you eventually. Pretty urgent to figure out how to stop making and using it the way we are.
