we were trying to get to know them. in they end, they decided we weren't their kind of organization (too independent and principles driven). that's probably a good thing in the long run even though we stayed poorer (relatively speaking) as a result.
Hopefully it will be transparent. i can see Hegseth keeping things on the downlow until they've nabbed the people responsible. fortunately this falls under the military, so things can move more quickly. I expect, though, if it was controlled remotely, the controllers are probably dead.
