I guess I'm one of those #vtubers. Having fun talking about general topics, vrchat/similar, and games. Also #indiedev #gamedev. You can call me: Freak فْرِيكٌ フリク (still learning Nihongo). #envtuber #podcast #gaming #gamedev

All's good. Hopefully damus comes to android and web, seems great! =3

That's great! Unfortunately it's not on Android nor accessable as a site. Using primal on PC browse, Plebstr on mobile (will use Plebstr site too when it goes live most likely).

Gist if you don't want to read all that:

- Bitcoin/LN is not needed. LN is pretty easy now.

- Nostr is actually decentralized.

- The system set in place to find people needs to improve, can and will.

- Biggest issue is actually server load and how to handle running costs (this is a servers issue, not a nostr issue. Still needs to be solved though).

- Nostr can't ban you (a nostr relay can, but can't ban your account, your followers, your follows, etc).

- Pub keys as usernames are an issue yes and NIP-05 isn't a good solution.

- Some nostr clients will have ads.

- Spam would be handled by relays, clients, and users. Freedom comes with the cost of responsibility, and the results will be better than centralized.

- For current relay related issues, a potential solution is for relays to start talking with each other and be P2P for each other in some parts.

Note: I appreciate him attacking nostr so that we know where flaws are at and improve it, however, it seems like this person is adamant about the supposed high likelihood of nostr dying in around 5 years, without seemingly delving into nostr directly and checking it out (from the looks of it / from how he pointed out a couple of things, which also resulted in him misunderstanding points and not being up to date with how things have improved. This video has mostly, not entirely, wasted my time. (no slight for you posting it, all's good x3).

1 - Getting a non custodial LN want with funds (so decentralized) is pretty easy nowadays with Phoenix and Mutiny (plus nostr doesn't need bitcoin or BLN).

2 - Telegram link: It's not that deep, it's just ease of communication currently for more people to get involved.

3 - Alice is on relay A, Bob is on relay B, they can't see each other. What can be done here is, perhaps through a new NIP, relay A can look through its users' metadata and see what relays they have on them, ping said relays to find Bob, Bob would show up in search for Alice, and one of Bob's relays would be added to Alice's connected relays.

4- All popular relays censoring you from writing, you can still read of course, but of course they can't delete people that already followed you, or you them, and can't stop any future event of this kind, which is already massively better than Mastodon. However, going back to the main issue, I don't think it's that big of an issue because if people still want to hear you, they'd just add the relay you'd be on, and as time passes, users wouldn't have to worry about adding/removing relays as that will happen in the background automagically by clients. Plus, relays wouldn't have the pressure issue like what Mastodon has, pressure from other servers to ban people otherwise they wouldn't connect with them. The power is with the user, not the relay operator.

5. He mentioned that the pub key is somehow centralized, later on he reversed that statement.

6. The note about how the nostr site is saying that nostr doesn't have ads in comparison to twitter, I'm in agreement and disagreement here, because yes, technically it doesn't on its face, however, there are "zapertising" on clients at the moment, and clients will eventually add ads to their clients if they desire to.

7. On the point about when there will be a huge number of users on nostr, like mainstream level, relays from your average joe running is server in his house will probably not be able to handle all this pressure, resulting in those relays shutting down or adding a paywall / pay as you text, and the whole experience on nostr will be really slow. My view on this that yes, there will be free and slow, paid and fast with how things are, and thinking with a better solution in the future is what's mentioned in point 4 above, with the addition of if one relay is pressured and another is not, writings will be redirected to the available relay and a user's account would have that new relay attached to them. Basically, the relays become P2P with each other, not users/clients, and aside from that, to help fund servers, relays would have free and paid versions that prioritize the speed over others. Another solution to decrease this issue is having micro relays in each client that stores the users data, accessed by others as first or backup to relays, if it's available (so hopefully that would decrease pressure or at lease increase some reliability with the whole experience).

8. nostr: "twitter... keep you addicted" yea i don't see the point of this (ish), guy has a point, and that is a nonpoint / clients can do this too if they want so moving on.

8.5: eh, i want chronological, but i can see the benefits of algos, so hopefully clients push and provide both (toggle / separate tab maybe for the algo)

9. twitter bans people "so does nostr" is not correct. Nostr cannot ban you, you can still speak, and you can still get your own data if you've backed it up. That is just a false statement. A correct one is "nostr can't ban you. A nostr relay can ban you."

10. on the nostr having spam: yea there will be spam, although because of the nature of how nostr is operated at, the relay, the client, and the user will all play a role in handling spam. With freedom comes responsibility, and the results will be a shitton better than how twitter or any other centralized service would handle it.

11. The issue with npubs not being user friend is a valid one, and NIP-05 isn't a good solution for the nature of nostr (even if you self host because of the ICANN problem). This is actually a solid problem imo.

12. nostr: "there are no clear incentives to run servers" (towards mastodon) youtuber "same with nostr", ya, true. so this is a non-point

nostr:npub12vkcxr0luzwp8e673v29eqjhrr7p9vqq8asav85swaepclllj09sylpugg annoyance: there's no a "latest" in the feed selector sometimes, and so I can't things chronologically, and i can't set it up in the settings to be the default.

We always talk about #nostr being a place that supports creators, where they are free to share their work and receive value from others, so let’s showcase them and boost their visibility. The #artstr community is small but growing, and I keep seeing new artists arriving all the time.

Here is a very incomplete and non-exhaustive list of visual artists I’ve found here. If you know of others that should be added, please drop their npubs below!

Will be writing about that on habla actually, "Gaming on Nostr" or something. Exploring how nostr can change the gaming industry

These actions are more harmful than piracy too (like actually, piracy helps with sales and these actions decrease it x3)

Got another friend to stream test on #nostr

Positive test and impression.

Plan to have a future episode of his podcast on nostr =3

So.. time organized Instagram design with filters, friends only, and forcing posts to see other posts, (from looking at the promo images).

I think it might be nice. Don't like the no lurk, would just increase the chance of posting random shit to be able to see others' posts.

Peeps, if you're not doing this, your wasting so much money. Can't remember the past time I "bought" bitcoin/stables "normal" and get hit with massive fees. I've either physically done p2p with cash, or binance p2p (if it's large amounts, split them up). #bitcoin #p2p

Updated https://www.nostrapps.com/ with some new clients.

Will add other missing soon. Just got too late here.

Check it out! Let me know what I’m missing.

Good night 😴

Side note: link works, but without www it doesn't.

Do P2P on binance. Basically you'd send someone money from your local bank to another person in the same local, so tiny fees, and they'd unlock their crypto usdt and send it to you.

Making one and hopefully it will see the light of one day.

Siada. (See-ya-da).

Arabic word for Sovereignty. As in everyone who uses this app is a sovereign of their own account, their data, their speach, who they interact with, etc, because of the tech the app uses, nostr =3

Just tried it. Has a few small issue that'll get fixed, but after I asked the devs (I think) and read their nip, it's real good! This was going to be in My Nostr Wishlist #2 post, but now it has been fulfilled =3 (what was fulfilled? Npubs are hidden / even if someone gets ahold of your npub, they wouldn't know who you're DMing with. They just strings of text and doesn't lead back to your npub unless you mention it.

Was already thinking about this a long time ago, and have already started writing about it to post on habla for nostr (among other business solutions).

Has anyone talked about #nostr clients adding a form of business model? (Adds, subs, etcs)

Way too early to add any maybe and probably bad if u want to attract users to your client, but it still needs to be talked about, devs need money too to survive, and sure there's crowd funding and investments, but imo this should also be looked at and considered as well.

No more LN and replaced with someone else? The results would most likely be a headache of clients and users dealing with different tokens. Headache with clients dealing with supporting tokens with their implementation and organization, headache for the user to learn about them and worry about scams and their fav clients not have what they want. That's all assuming your average crypto, unless somehow new tokens can be created on the same LN tech where addresses are the same (which I think this might be a possibility from what I remember some projects are trying to do, not sure).

In terms of a whole new thing... Create your own funny money based on a person's noun and send it? =P

The nsec get regenerated everytime you use the same email with the same pass and/or lock. And like what we have now, the nsec is stored in the app once added in, purged once you log out (added back again, the same nsec, once you use the same email pass lock combo to regenerate the same nsec)
