I’ve just had a very lovely trip into town:
- the sun is shining but there’s a nice cool breeze
- I met my neighbour going up the hill and we had a good natter
- I bought some gourmet chocolate, some fresh bread, some vine tomatoes and some Spanish cheese
- my favourite server was on at the cheese shop, so I had a chat with her
- there were many cute dogs in the high street
- I bought some mint and dark chocolate drop gelato from another very friendly shop and sat on a bench and ate it
- on the way home I found a lot of ripe blackberries in the hedgerow, so I ate those too. In related news, there is a purple spot on my white top
I do like where I live!
I’ve ground to a halt. I can’t find the energy to go for a walk or a run or hop on the indoor bike, I’ve been dozing on the sofa instead. I honestly don’t want to anything at all, I’ll task myself with an hour of mandatory online training and that’s it. Sometimes you just need a complete rest and that time is today, apparently
#3GoodThings
1) 3 great meetings today, my research topic is so interesting
2) After work I joined an a retrospective session and shared my successes (and low points) from my working week
3) A satisfying ending to the novel I was listening to
I’m heading for an early night now
Ooh! Another job interview! I’m not sure it’s doable as I think from what they’ve said, they would want me to go to London once a week though. Should I do the interview anyway? I guess you never know?
I mean it, Charlotte. If you sleep this afternoon you won’t sleep tonight, and if you’re awake in the night you will plan bad things. Start your jigsaw puzzle
So while we were away we booked our Caribbean trip for next year, four nights on Barbados and 7 on Saint Vincent. For St V we’ve gone for a secluded suite with a terrace, it’s much more than we would normally spend, but we will be celebrating 20 years as a couple, so we thought we would treat ourselves. 20 years is a long time!
Bedtime! Night, all 🌙
nostr:npub1fpr3egfa5xnfhvppkdnujqdftpsql2qfm0p3lzttefz4xggkastqcvlyph I did have a good singing voice, but I seem to have lost it somewhere along the way 😢 I’m hoping if I go to this group regularly, it might come back. This group however is not for “talented” people, it’s open to absolutely anybody regardless of ability, and I like that
We’re home! The cat is in and has been fed.
I don’t think I have told you this, but I have applied to be a reverse mentor at my new university, bringing my perspective as a member of the disability and LGBTQIA communities to inform senior managers’ practice. IDK if I have a chance of getting it but I thought it would be interesting and a chance to push my woke agendas
nostr:npub1wujhrrsp3t6k2e4nc0tkkp3czf4zuz4d4dc6vuvalsk0sn67tyts6f6uhc Aw she looks lovely! Do you know how many kittens she is expecting?

Sounds like you won’t have much idle time after all.
Congratulations to you!
Where is the campus, if you don’t mind me asking?
nostr:npub1fpr3egfa5xnfhvppkdnujqdftpsql2qfm0p3lzttefz4xggkastqcvlyph In the county of Surrey, in southeast England. The journey from southwest Wales is about 6.5 hours by train with two changes. Not ideal but hopefully I won’t have to do it too often going forward.

I haven’t been for a run because an email came with details of my PhD programme induction sessions! I have instead spent the time excitedly booking my train tickets and hotel (the campus is too far away to go there and back in a day). My first session is next week, eek! Then another in October. I’m all of a flutter now. I’ve also been trying to sort my student IT out, the uni system won’t run on my version of Safari so I’ve had to update my entire OS which of course takes ages, just when I’m impatient to get going #phdchat #PhDLife #phd
Just boarded and waiting for takeoff. The people next to me were staying in a guesthouse in the medina with no one else there except the night watchman who left without them. They spent the night among rubble with the local residents. So you see we had it easy #Holiday2023 #Marrakesh #Morocco #MoroccoEarthquake
nostr:npub1fpr3egfa5xnfhvppkdnujqdftpsql2qfm0p3lzttefz4xggkastqcvlyph They just rang to confirm, they even managed to squeeze us into business class, what stars!
We’re supposed to be going to the fancy restaurant tonight for a tasting menu but I have developed a bad tummy and I just can’t face it. I was going to put on a nice outfit and some makeup but nope. Tom’s going to go on his own and I’ll go to the main buffet at some point, my meds have to be taken with food so I need to find something plain I can nibble on. I definitely don’t feel like eating things in rich sauces. What a shame. Stupid digestive system 😭
The kitchen bin is smelly. It needs to be cleaned inside. Like, today. Now, before I shower. But the cat is dozing with her paws pressed into my arm. I feel like a monster moving away so she loses her support. But, the bin…
Just ran a treadmill 5km in 41’ 50” - 30 seconds off my PB, darn it! First time I have successfully run 5km in a couple of months. It was a progression run, so I pushed the pace a little each km (I did start very slowly!), then cooled down by walking 300m before doing a #peloton post-run stretch. Rest day tomorrow, then a 4km easy run on Sunday. It will be nice to run somewhere new (the Quarry park in Shrewsbury) #running #fitness #FitnessJourney #5k

I’ll be glad when the work day is done and I can reclaim my kitchen!

I never knew that there were so many people into moss! And I love to see so many makers’ work… the fibre arts community, for example, is a joy
