Bitcoin enthusiast looking to help grow the network

It concerns me that tether is buying Bitcoin (and plans to continue each month).

A stable coin that is pegged to usd should have 1:1 reserves of that pegged asset.

Of course BTC is the ultimate asset. But it's volatility can create an attack vector. Just like what happened with Luna.

Why within ark, you would have to refresh before 4 weeks expire or you lose your sats?

I would like to try and convince different restaurants and stores to offer BTC/lightning payments.

I'm wondering if anyone has developed onboarding material to help present to these companies?

Like marketing material that clearly gets the information across.

Some things that come to mind:

- description of btcpay server and voltage

- info on the hardware needed for point of sale

- how it can integrate with existing CC and fiat

- description of how low the fees are

- info on how it can report sales (for tax, etc)

- describe other benefits (ie. Listed on btcmap.org)

I have had lightning channels close on me.

Overtime I've lost 10s of millions of sats. I was hoping lightning would maintain correct balances after closures. Not the case.

The first 2/3 rds of this interview is Lyn Alden really slamming the Bitcoin mining FUD. In such a simple understanding way that Lyn is so good at.

While at springwater last night, I asked others about a good karaoke place. Thinking that Santa's might be a little small. Several suggested Fran's Eastside. A dive bar with karaoke until 3am. And cheap beer (like $2.25). I've never been there but something to consider I reckon

Shawn, very interesting lecture.

That guy is so articulate and smart. Way smarter than I am.

But I do feel like the overall message is perversed somehow. Perversed? I don't think that's the exact word I'm looking for.

I feel like he's putting everything he is against, into a bucket that he calls Marxism. And thereby everybody (left and right) should consider it bad. Since it's Communist.

I don't think everything we are experiencing now is exactly black and white (I mean good or bad, not color). Recently met a man that has a gay son. About 15 or so. Had to move out of town (Nashville) and put in another city (Huntsville). Because of the abuse he was getting at his school.

The new school ended up worse. While in the bathroom a group of girls ganged up and beat the shit out of him.. This father is a man's man. Loves football, hockey, etc. Everything I like. He could tell, when his son was extremely young, that his boy was more of a girl than boy. He says even at two years old. It took him a long time to accept that. This is not something that school teachings created in that boy. Not society. Definitely not the parents. They were appalled by the thought for a long time. It just happens.

It has nothing to do with Marxism. That really is ridiculous. Even with that amazing speach, I do not agree.

We should not hate. We should try to be understanding and spread love. It's not considered "woke" to love each other.

The white privilege part really made me cringe.. is this guy a white supremacists? And by me asking that, would he call me a Marxist?

Ridiculous.

Sorry. First time I think you and I don't see eye to eye.

Thanks for the link. Some cool articles.

I will read some more I guess. But I'm still concerned about dealing with a third party and my sats.

And thanks for the 1000 sats. I know in today's money that's not much. But it does feel like free money if you come with us.

Is there a business that y'all are trying to create? I think the answer is of course. And there's nothing wrong with that. I feel that this probably a very legit business.

But we really need a layer 2/3 solution that has no trust in any company. Zero. Just like Bitcoin.

And by trust, I don't mean that we need to believe in your honest agenda. I mean zero need for any trust.

Hence, is there a way to make the peg in and peg out without third parties? Software only. That we can all have trust less concerns.

forgive me for what is probably a stupid question from a novice.

how much #trust is involved in to #liquid BTC other liquid assets?

I know I can get my Bitcoin back from lightning then an adversarial environment because I have the ability to close the channels myself.

hypothetically, if State actors applied enough pressure for liquid nodes + functionarys to shut down can I get my Bitcoin back yes or no?

if yes, can you explain to a 12-year-old how to do it?

I had similar question. And got same link.

I wish they could answer directly

Excuse me if I'm wrong. But it seems that one would have to trust the liquid federation with the "peg in" BTC. Seems against the ethos of Bitcoin to rely on a third party.

Anyway to make the BTC transactions to and from liquid via code (ie. Smart contract or something)?

Have any if you seen the "Need to Grow" about an algae power plant in Montana? Creating biomass, biogas and generating enough power for 100 homes. Where electricity was the "waste product".

I don't like to sign up for stuff (to be able to watch).

What's the TL/DR?
