Architecture, urbanism and sustainable transport... and politics, everything is political. Galwegian living in Dublin, Ireland Profile pic: me and Peggy Seeger, January 2025 Header image: A photo of a street surface with the words "Ici, les pietons sont prioritaires" painted on it (Here, pedestrians have priority) which was taken in Nantes, France. Janey Godley was right.

"Factory production has allowed all kinds of engineered products, from cars to electronics, to become much more sophisticated and also much less expensive. So why do we insist on building houses the old-fashioned way?"

Wessie du Toit on the commodification of housing, prefabrication and the attachment to historic architypes.

nostr:npub1f9mc3hq6jv89h8h57mutah4nkt4e3vuavj96cr5cjdcrpsfaqrrs6tcn3m I haven't posted, liked or retweeted anything on Twitter since November last year but I've kept my account, mainly because I don't want my Twitter handle to fall into other hands.

Initially, I had hoped that there might be a post-Musk future for Twitter and that I might return but that seems increasingly unlikely.

I don't think having an inactive account bolsters the platform in any significant way. Active Users is the key metric that investors and advertisers will look to.

nostr:npub1djvnea5e8tuytt8ml6z2sdraa643yqjcwqhkffgfdpray8dn60cq7v74n2 three more years and we'll finally have that 1926 census data!

nostr:npub1djvnea5e8tuytt8ml6z2sdraa643yqjcwqhkffgfdpray8dn60cq7v74n2 I thin if there are too many results it won't return any.

For example, P* Murphy doesn't return results but Q* Murphy does

Dublin City Council are running a public consultation on the city Sports Plan https://consultation.dublincity.ie/sport-wellbeing/dublin-city-sports-plan-2023-2028/

I've used it to call for more publicly accessible green recreational space, safer walking and cycling routes to recreational spaces (including the proposed Dodder Greenway) and better walking and cycling infrastructure generally to allow people to build physical activity into their daily lives.

Shamim Malekmian reporting on a meeting chaired by Cllr Nial Ring to discuss asylum seekers living in the East Wall area. It's an excellently written piece that leaves no doubt about Cllr Ring's intentions.

“If they were really concerned, they would come into the building and talk to us and ask how they could help us. They would try to make sure that people who live in the building do come to these meetings”

Eamon Ryan couldn't have asked for a greater endorsement than to receive such criticism from the CEO of one of Europe's most polluting companies, whose business model is knowingly making climate change worse.

nostr:npub12dp09mhas25mr76h7s04d43akx2n8rgg7hdn7u4q2lt5gfc5hwwq59rpxf It is mainly wet in South Antrim. Wind only starting to get up now.

I don't know what it's like in the rest of the country but it's a beautiful day in #Inishowen!
