My understanding is it a client can support it but it’d still live on at the protocol level (censorship resistant part)

Unless if you plan on selling today, don’t worry about the micro-market movements. You’ll forget about them in a couple years and reminisce about the “good ol’ days” when Bitcoin was just ~$100K.
