I want to build the circular economy before fiat finance gobbles up the cheap sats

Lovingly tending to my Amethyst app, going every night to the store to get updates, restarting it when it crashes with no complaints, I have never been this patient with an app, you're doing great sweetie, I say encouragingly

Like, I'm actively trying to set myself up for a "pizza moment", to look back and think "I paid WHAT for that meal". But around my neighborhood only a fresh pasta seller takes Bitcoin, and they didn't even have lightning last time I tried!

Curious to know, which portion of your monthly expenditures are in Bitcoin? I am all for the hodling, but would like to participate more in the circular economy, but not many merchants accept it where I live.

Agreed. In a sense, zaps are like smiles or nods in meatspace conversations, and I LOVE how seamless it is here. Unlike other social media, this way of liking does carry a small sacrifice, and thus contains real information. I like all these little games people are creating to push the boundaries of the medium. It's fun being here

I think people don't just care about sats. But if they did, the second person to zap you (say, after the 21 sats) has a negative expected payoff. Still it's a fun exercise, I like the community building aspect of it. It's just not profitable for the second person. Unless the same person can zap more than once, in which case... Well let's see what happens

Hi there, I'm also new here. Trying to zap you a couple sats for fun, but it gives me a message "this user does not have a lightning address". I'm on Amethyst. Don't know if it's a problem on my end, I'm learning here 😊

Is it possible to zap different amounts? I'm on Amethyst, seems I can zap any amount to a user, but if I zap a specific note the default amount is 1000 sats and can't be changed, am I wrong?

Ooh, the flashlight tells me this is thoughtfully designed. Looks great, will probably grab one soon

Well I haven't tried this alternative you speak of. The zaps here are so easy as to be spontaneous, a seamless part of conversation, like the "like" buttons became in normie social media, except it does carry a small sacrifice and thus a signal.

But hey I'm open to try new stuff. That's how I got here!

I haven't used it. Why is it better? Does it have zaps or equivalent? Seems to me this is the game changer, as it allows value4value and thus clearly differentiates signal from noise. The immutability is great too. To you, what is Mastodon's advantage?

Must resist impulse of spamming everyone at my fiat job about nostr. But it's so interesting, so clearly the future. Must resist.

Oh nostr is gonna be another endless rabbit hole isn't it. Every year I think I understand Bitcoin so much better than the previous year, who knows when I'll get to the bottom of it. Or if there is even a bottom. I'm currently at "fuck what even is value", so... Anyway, now on the parallel rabbit hole that is nostr. Wish me luck

Ok, nostriching now
