I think the most galaxy-brained take of 2025 is that #TikTok is being banned because it’s too effective at teaching people empathy lol. This is related to other wild takes such as “you can’t/shouldn’t curtail because .” Multiple things can be true at once: A platform can be _generally_ harmful while being _particularly_ beneficial. The latter doesn’t negate or even lessen the former.

* you were foregoing all corporate social media

* you were trying to improve your mental health

Seems like many people found that none of the would-be replacements were active enough or sufficiently insulated against X-esque problems (eg, the bad moderation on Bluesky)
