Today’s going to be a little emotional. I’ll be cleaning out some of my MILs things for my FIL who can’t bring himself to do it. She passed 3 months ago. Asking for prayers of peace and strength today.

I guess it’s time for an #introduction. I’m Ash, I live on a small homestead in Northern Maine. My husband and I met on a white water canoe trip many, many years ago, hence the name of our farm. I’m a homeschooling Mom of two teenagers who really don’t need me for that purpose anymore, but I digress. I grew up on a farm, spent my husband’s military years between Maine and Alaska learning whatever skills I could to be as self sufficient as possible, and now we’ve gotten to settle in our forever home carving a little homestead out of the Maine woods. We’re not off grid but we try really hard to raise most of our own food. I’m a soap and salve maker, my husband is a Maine Guide, and we operate a small firewood business. Looking forward to sharing a little bit of our lifestyle with you. I’m very happy to have finally taken the time to join Nostr. Any suggestions as to who to follow would be greatly appreciated!

Currently working on inventorying the seeds we have (how many seeds, species, varietal, year packed for, etc.).

Then we'll pick out what we're going to plant, how many, where (optimizing for sunlight, drainage, trellising, crop rotation, and companion plants). Then we'll be able to order any seeds that we don't already have.

Once we get a 3 year crop rotation planned out, it should get much easier. Doubly so if we keep our inventory up to date as we go.
