I get what you mean about preferring your own delivery, though, and the offerings seem especially bad with a 'horror' writer. They're trying too hard to be either sCaRy or british.

For plays I find whispering out loud to be better than silent reading

I want to hear some morally bankrupt congressman policymaker thinktank globalist asmr (pic related)

I even listened to one done by THE LEGENDARY SUPER SPY CHRISTOPHER LEE, and it was pretty eyerolling. Feeling the own rhythm on your tongue is so much better, it's orgasmic

It stretches you in a way that frictionless forms of consumption don't. I prefer reading out loud to audiobooks anyway since I prefer my own delivery usually.

nostr:npub1g0uss0sjsgxwmhqxgnvlj0zv9ru89xwfyktkcjc0kgy8syxj79ss383vfw Why? Is it the exhaustion of simulating a long journey?

nostr:npub1pt6l3a97fvywrxdlr7j0q8j2klwntng35c40cuhj2xmsxmz696uqfr6mf6 Yeah it's just such a gigantic pain in the ass. The book becomes a lot more tense and dramatic as time goes on. Certain passages in the last third always make me weep. But it still feels like having a vampire energy drain you somehow.

I got a lot more out of it after reading it this time though since reading more medieval literature and learning more about theology and the history of literature makes it much more clear what Tolkien was doing and responding to. Lord of the Rings somehow feels like the most overrated and underrated book ever written because it's so poorly understood.

Lord of the Rings is a great book but also every time I re-read it, it puts me off reading for months

AFTER MANY MONTHS my grandma has finally been approved for a nursing home. Moved her in today, nice place even with all the mushy food. Got to hang up her paintings on the wall too so she should feel at home thankfully, and it's a government assisted one so my family won't go bankrupt trying to crowdfund it :)

Normies getting into McCarthy is creating some of the funniest content of all time

Forced to play Starfield because of my connections to Microsoft
