supposing running a lightning node was easy. I'll even let a maxi swear to me that they have the best turnkey solution ever and it'll blow me away. even still, a person who has his own node has to constantly top it off and rebalance it by doing L1 transactions to manage the channels. and there is only enough room on L1 for a small number of people to do that. there is a hard limit on how many people are able to use lightning without going through a custodian. the limit is smaller than the number of people in the world who want to use bitcoin without a custodian.
I used to own a .top domain. if I sent a SMS message to an AT&T customer and there was a URL with a .top domain anywhere in the message, it would not be delivered. but they didn't do that for MMS. I called them like four times and they wouldn't admit they were doing this. one of the reps tried to teach me how to send an email instead.
they denied for years that blockchain analysis was ever going to put anyone in harm's way. many of them still deny that it's a big deal. they are lazy and not proactive. you can count on them to continue believing that shoving everyone into a custodian is not a big deal. how someone can live through mt gox and ftx and go on to promote ruggable ecash mints is totally beyond me. they must just be stupid or something. there isn't a better explanation than that.
it was bitcoiners who sat on their hands for the first 5 years and said "nobody has ever been prosecuted via blockchain analysis." a few of them stopped saying that after it started happening but most of them still don't care. they are intellectually lazy and not proactive. and now they are going to sit on their hands and pretend that shoving everyone into a custodian is not a big deal, even after everything from mt gox to ftx. they are not the sharpest crayons in the box.
got it so that means ecash is not valuable, liquid is not valuable, the majority of coins on the lightning network are not valuable...
I've never had a negative experience using BCH. just werks. feels exactly like the first time I used bitcoin, every time.
it's not even a scientific problem, you wanker. it's a logistical problem. the government can put whatever it wants in the vials and hold up a piece of paper that says "yankee doodle fuck my ass" and you just have to take it. and governments have done that before.
there's this thing called nostr, and when you join, they do this thing called zapping. they stick a cattle prod up your ass. it's some kind of hazing ritual
"I am a professional wiener gobbler." - goatmeal
china and india magically don't cause climate change
They say mutilation trauma is good and sell it as medical advice, this is a barbaric Jewish desert ritual from the old testament.

this upsets me very much. if I was tortured and mutilated as an infant and nobody ever got punished, why have a government at all? the fact that so many millions of people can brush this off in a modern country is incredibly disturbing to me. we're not civilized.
yup. I also bought a SNS domain instead of a ENS domain. it's far from perfect and nobody seems to care to make it better despite how useful it can be but I was still very excited for an opportunity to play with it. I can't even issue SSL certificates against it. it is just redirecting to a traditional domain, and only in brave browser.
blockchain-based domain name service is actually a good idea. it's probably the only non-retarded NFT-like use-case I have ever seen, and it's the second thing anyone ever managed to do with any blockchain. I wouldn't discount the whole idea because some developers are misusing it, just like they misused NFTs to sell pictures of cartoon kittens. ideally, the NFT should store attributes that point to IPFS resources, eepsites, or blinded cryptocurrency addresses.
go through and read the whole thing if you haven't done this yet. it's absolutely disgusting. every single selling point and promise and achievement bitcoin made, this thing undoes it and spits on it. this thing turns bitcoin into the ultimate shitcoin, a word I normally never use. if you fall for something like this I don't know why you're even here at all.
the number of people who are willing and capable of being sovereign is much greater than what bitcoin can handle. forget about the untermenschen for a second and imagine the wet dream of the bitcoin maximalist. if everyone who was sovereign in altcoins and all the other alternatives all of the sudden got the light of the holy spirit and felt called back into bitcoin, the network would choke to death with or without lightning. there is simply not enough room for everyone who is worthy of their own channels to have them, and almost nobody who is a maxi even thinks this is a problem.
instead of making self-custody more accessible, the developers have turned their backs on the most valuable users in order to cater to people who couldn't pour piss out of a boot if the instructions were on the heel. a payment channel solution that cannot scale without shoving almost everyone into a custodian, a privacy tool with ruggable IOUs, and the worst sidechain I have ever seen with a freaking consortium security model. and now we have bitcoin that can be printed out of thin air, frozen, censored. these are the trappings of what you call shitcoins, but "it's okay when we do it." that's where almost all the effort is being focused right now. all in a vain attempt to accommodate ignorant people who would stay away from bitcoin without a second thought if the TV told them to. I fail to see how stripping bitcoin of all of its benefits in an attempt to make it more retard-proof is going to help anyone.
