We drove from the port on this road, over the Canadian border, then hopped on a narrow gauge train to make the scenic return trip on the other side of this gorge.

For #MeerMittwoch here's Cap Salou, Spain in 2012. A week's holiday by the sea gave me lots of chances to take photos along this coastline which was interestingly rocky with quiet bays near our hotel but gave way to long, golden beaches nearer Salou and Cambrils.

My family took in foreign students in the 1980s, most of whom were French, Spanish, or German, but these two were Russian. Viktor on the left, Konstantin on the right (Kostya, as he liked to be called; and his English was flawless). This was taken at a Friday night out at Portsmouth Greyhound Stadium, late 1980s, where the boys were getting an education in gambling on dog-racing from my family.

This is the view from the Inca ruins of Tambo Colorado looking south towards a dry-looking, low mountain range. The weather was decidedly scorchio! on this day. We went through so much water.

Claire emerged in times of extreme stress. No blood, but a brief moment of agony as the skin split. It was everything at that moment not to scream and clench the fist, and it was everything in the moment after not to direct Claire at the threat and let her feast.
Graham stared at his palm and glanced up at the two kids who'd pulled the knives. They'd seen his face twist and they'd flinched when his hand contorted. They ran, and Graham let out a breath.
