I work a cool side hustle. The company I contract with are looking for help around the US, especially in certain metro areas. Minivan/pickup/large suv or trailer required, able-bodied partner needed, also must have the ability to advertise online and sell in person. Hard, honest work. Lots of couples and families have found it to be a good fit. If you are in the US and interested in details, message me. Yes, I can earn a modest referral fee.

Yes, it's early days and just like the internet and email, it is reasonable to expect it will have more unsavory sides. To some extent, that reality has already manifested.
What I hope is that there is always room for good.
I don't think there is a best for everyone, but El Salvador seems to be the only country to openly declare itself to be Bitcoin friendly.
There is a difference in the network effect of Bitcoin and Nostr.
With Bitcoin, nearly everyone is in the accumulation phase and would prefer the price to stay low so we can buy more, even while we hope it moves toward world domination.
With Nostr, we mostly all recognize the power of the network effect and expect to experience significant benefits as it grows, and the sooner the better.

Thanks! I'm showing a zap came through from you but it still won't let me zap you. To troubleshoot, you can zap yourself and see if you can get that to work.
Who are/will be the first niche celebrities on nostr?
And what will happen when they come and start promoting nostr?

Oh and #grownostr? Yes, that hashtag was the brain child of podcaster nostr:npub15879mltlln6k8jy32k6xvagmtqx3zhsndchcey8gjyectwldk88sq5kv0n who brought over hundreds of active users, if not thousands, with more to come.
Yes, the tenor of thought and conversation on nostr so far is very different than the social platforms. Much kinder, gentler, more thoughtful, and wiser. Hardly perfect, but not tuned for crazy like the platforms, which necessarily tunes out the not crazy.
And there are zaps, which is likely a revolutionary development.
Yes! And thank you! I tried to zap you some satoshis, but it says your wallet isn't set up. Lots of people are using Alby including me. Others are using Wallet of Satoshi.
The world feels heavy right now. Shout out to all of the people posting beautiful pics, art, food, and other creative stuff on nostr!

Nostr feels a lot like the internet was originally intended to work, and in some ways feels very reminiscent of various parts of the early internet experience.
However I do feel some significant differences between nostr and the early internet.
1. A lot of the users on nostr are middle-aged. I don't recall many middle-aged people at all being involved in the early internet days. Indeed, many boomers still aren't very tech savvy, and it's been a quarter of a century.
2. This time we know what we are doing. In 1997, the internet existed, but nobody quite knew what to do with it. Sure, there were a few visionaries, but more than anything, there was some combination of dismissiveness, confusion, and fear of missing out, and then the dot com bubble burst, and we still didn't really know what we were doing or what would be possible.
3. This time we have Bitcoin and Lightning enabling even micropayments.
4. This time we have near total internet and device access by most countries at all times around the world. That is to say, the physical infrastructure is already universal. Many of us were still dialing in to the internet in the mid-2000s and even well beyond over a landline phone, sometimes on business computers because we didn't have one at home.
+What did I miss? Help me out, and let's talk about it in the comments!
So in the 2008 banking breakdown, some banks were said to be too big to fail.
It's been a decade and a half, surely we've gotten this fixed by now...
Right???

That's what's happening. There is zero talk, afaik, about letting in smaller entities.
Still waiting for a seized US bank to get broken up and distributed among smaller banks or other local or regional entities.
