I mean there are probably many people with Bitcoin exposure within the whale addresses in ETFs, but in general Bitcoin is really not held by many people yet
Am I understanding this correctly that there are only less than 5 million UTXOs so probably fewer self custodial holders?
You may be right. I also think it took these 4 years of craziness to wake people up entirely.
It's funny how humans work. Some are heavier sleepers. Others knew all this stuff already.
all the poor shrimp are getting eaten with layoffs and inflation and cost of living, weather disasters... Hold the line!
Or maybe they are just consolidating UTXOs and they are becoming sharks
You are a sphynx! Or that bird that rises from the fire.
The "Go West, young man" campaign is still working. and mail-order brides
It sounds like the US advertising campaign is working.... However, it must be hard to leave beautiful little cities with trains and canals and bikes and windmills
Very interesting comparison with SA. I would push back however at least in Texas the blend of cultures between Texas and Mexico and southern US would make it seem we are better at mixing and living together than it appears SA was able to do.
Also, just from observation, blacks and Hispanics seem to have more church attendance and conservative values. So they may be the new generation riding in to save the nation with their civic spirit and family values.
Only one way to find out
Hehehe, this is satire, right?
"where I live, there are rainbows"
learning about reinsurance on a Saturday morning:
"there are companies and investment vehicles that are willing to take on weather risk ...this is attractive because weather is not correlated with Equity markets; weather is not correlated with debt markets so these pools of capital look at the insurance Market as a way to diversify their underlying exposure"

stuff like this makes me so excited for the future of abundance. 20 years ago, i would have to pay an expensive college degree, live in an expensive college town, have certain prerequisites for this knowledge, and now it's free. I hope this is the future that bitcoin gives us.
Just like no one complains about Youtube distributing free knowledge, no one will complain about Bitcoin making people so much more abundantly wealthy
digital nomads as carpet baggers :-D
i aspire to be a carpet bagger
https://www.zerohedge.com/news/2024-10-25/microsoft-vote-adding-bitcoin-its-balance-sheet
microsoft might start directly taking on #bitcoin for their cash reserves
And then comes Apple! I can't imagine the pressure that this would put on those competitors to level up.
The only person I was able to convince Bitcoin was a good idea was after showing them that the white paper resides on their MacBook, and then the interview with Wozniak and Tim Cool where they mention owning Bitcoin.
Yeah, that's what it's called ... The weird thing is that I apparently remember all of the examples as the other thing that's actually wrong. I would assume it would actually be 50/50. Perhaps it's possible for people to doubt themselves to the extent that they just pick the wrong answer as the answer they would probably give.
From a quick search:
Nelson Mandela: Broome and others falsely remembered Mandela dying in prison in the 1980s, even though he was released in 1990 and became president of South Africa in 1994.
C-3PO: Some people misremember C-3PO from Star Wars as being entirely golden.
Jiffy: Some people misremember Jiffy as the name of a peanut butter brand.
The Berenstein Bears: Some people misremember the spelling of the classic children's book as The Berenstein Bears.
Mr. Monopoly: Some people misremember Mr. Monopoly as wearing a monocle.
Pikachu: Some people misremember Pikachu's tail as having black tips, when it's actually yellow.
Mickey Mouse: Some people misremember Mickey Mouse as wearing suspenders, when he's actually wearing shorts.
Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back: Some people misremember Darth Vader saying "Luke, I am your father" when he actually says "I am your father".
Anyone who doesn’t think it matters for Bitcoin who wins the 2024 US elections is totally detached from reality and does not think very hard about the truth of anything.
If you've been paying attention in the last 24 hours knows you know that the mere false rumour of an INVESTIGATION into Tether caused the price of Bitcoin to fall $2,000 USD. If an anti-Bitcoin president is elected, what do you think that will do to the price, genius?
And set aside the price for a moment. Craig "Faketoshi" Wright, who UK judges branded as a compulsive liar, waging lawfare against Bitcoin Core and its developers caused some people to say they would cease working on Bitcoin development, even before the end of the trial that eventually destroyed Faketoshi.
What do you think the US government going full anti-Bitcoin would do to those people? They would almost certainly stop working on Bitcoin if it meant the beginning of problems for them. A unconcluded court case in INGSOC was enough to frighten off devs; who could possibly be stupid enough to believe that an anti-Bitcoin American president would not scare off developers and businesses to a large degree? You'd have to be a drug addled simpleton not to see this as a very real threat.
Saying things like, "Aint no stopping us now, we're on the move!" and believing that nothing can stop Bitcoin is absolutelydelusionalbitcoincultgibberish. It is infantile, stupid, delusional, ridiculous, credulous, foolishness, odd, dumb, silly, childish, ignorant, puzzling and dopey.
It matters quite a bit who wins the election; especially people who KYC their users and have applied for and obtained Money Transmitter Licenses (https://medium.com/@beautyon_/bitcoin-is-not-money-if-you-seek-compliance-you-are-asking-for-trouble-cbe9107e5298). Ripple have bet on the enemy of Bitcoin, and GEPOTUS is for Bitcoin. If you were any sort of betting man, you would be betting for Trump, because there is a lower probability of absolute disaster.
It's incredible how amazingly hollow people are. Shocking in fact. Thankfully, there is a small army of Anarcho Capitalist Bitcoiners, some of whom have access to many many tens of millions of dollars, and they are very dedicated to replacing the system that controls their fiat money and replacing it with something where their wealth can't be stolen.
These people don't imitate other people's cultures like brainwashees, know how to wear a shirt and tie, are not afraid of the truth, and are very very serious, unlike the Eloish Bitcoin Cult members who dance around like human cattle, barely able to speak their mother tongues and who sell delusion as hope.
i like thinking that we can make a good choice.
i'm sure i'm falling for Daily Wire feel good propaganda. Jordan Petersen thinks Trump is scores high on the compassion scale. and he can also not help himself from making the sarcastic jokes that get quoted as
"Impoliteness is a shield to protect him from the pain that compassion can produce.
It is at least in part a mask worn to shield him from the pain that such caring can produce. His gruffness is there to shield himself from the tenderness of his heart...there are many men like that."
Augustine talks smack of pagan gods:
4. Pagan gods had no moral teaching for their worshippers; in fact pagan rites were full of obscenities
"In the first place, why did these gods refuse to take the trouble to prevent the degeneration of morality? For the true God had a right to neglect those who did not worship him, but as for those gods of theirs the prohibition of whose worship these utterly ungrateful men complain of why did they give their worshippers no laws to help them to a good way of life? It would certainly have been fitting for the gods to be concerned about the conduct of those who concern themselves with their worship(City of God)."
Oh Augustine, how did you know:

" If only the weak understanding of the ordinary man did not stub bornly resist the plain evidence of logic and truth! If only it would, in its feeble condition, submit itself to the restorative medicine of sound teaching, until divine assistance, procured by devout faith, effected a cure! In that case, men of sound judgement and adequate powers of exposition would not need to engage in lengthy discussions in order to refute mistakes and fanciful conjectures. But as things are, the intelligent are infected by a gross mental disorder which makes them defend the irrational workings of their minds as if they were logic and truth itself, even when the evidence has been put before them as plainly as is humanly possible. Either they are too blind to see what is put before their face, or they are too perversely obstinate to admit what they see. The result is that we are forced very often to give an extended exposition of the obvious, as if we were not presenting it for people to look at, but for them to touch and handle with their eyes shut(City of God)."
