Less is more?

There’s a concept in design that I forget the name of and too lazy to look it up - but the idea is that you don’t want to overwhelm people with too many choices. More choices = more time and effort to make a decision. And once you repeat this mistake throughout your app, you’re creating unnecessary friction and stress.

The paradox of choice is I believe the title of a TED talk on this subject and Dan Airly god help me I misspelled his name for sure, wrote a book on this.

Ask not what you can show to your users, but what you can hide and still allow for good discovery.

Charge time and the ability for the vehicle to be completely controlled (including disabled) with uncontrolled centralized / proprietary software changes makes them totally inferior in my opinion. Two realities of EVs that can’t be negated.

Range is bad to terrible and extreme weather effects on EVs are also areas where they’re objectively inferior, currently.

The battery issue is another major concern. They degrade, are very expensive to replace and the rare earth metals used to make them are mined almost exclusively with slave labor. Not something I care to get involved with.

An entire motor swap on a diesel vehicle would be 5-7k and that doesn’t have any complicity in slavery. And that motor will last two or three times longer than an EV battery. My diesel also gets 650-700 miles per tank and is completely refueled in under 5 minutes. EVs just cannot compete.

Some of these issues with EVs may be remedy with time and technology evolution but some of the fatal EV flaws can’t be fixed. It’s a no from me, dawg.

The more I learn the more I feel EVs are a clown world scam. They’re inferior to ICE in almost every regard and likely always will be. Especially with so much regressive energy policy emerging at the same time they’re trying to take off.
