With KDE Connect installed, whenever I scroll to a video in Amethyst on my phone, a notification pops up on my Linux desktop giving playback controls.

In the Amethyst video/image feed tab, it's a notification every time you swipe to the next image or video.

KDE Connect is available for everything. Linux, Apple, MS, Android, Linux phones.

Amethyst is building a desktop client?

Yes, I wanted heterogenous lists that could be used for custom feeds. I said this in the review process, but it didn't make it into the spec so I just shoved people into "bookmarks".

Coracle only publishes 30001 lists currently, this could be the issue

I’ve tried this, as well as setting lists up in nostur and coracle and none show up in Amethyst.

Forgive my ignorance, didn't have time to search around: how do Amethyst lives work? Do they use nostr to identify a server that the client connects to? Or does it employ a centralized Amethyst server?

I really want to love #amethyst but the UX is frustrating every day. #primal is nicer but just for reading and feature-lacking. Typing this on #plebstr, which is a lot more polished, but not available on #fdroid, so no #foss. Anyway, the best stopgap #nostr client I found for #android so far. Thanks #aurorastore!

It's incredibly cluttered. It's trying to show me everything everywhere at once.

Too many colors, too much info, too few dropdowns, popups, tooltips and other methods to cleanup the UI. Also too many features with no proper introduction as to where am I supposed to look for it or what it does. (especially streams)

Instead of criticizing every little detail. let me propose solutions instead:

- Notifications should primarily show what happened and only secondarily if at all current status.

- There should only be one place where new public stuff happens - They should be under the same button on the appbar and only in that view should you choose what it is you are looking for. (however if it were up to me. I'd have separate apps for both live streams and groupchats as they will inevitabbly clutter the UI)

- Anything thst doesn't neccessarily have to be shown right away should be hidden up to two clicks away. (For instance relay badges on notes in the feed, or notification options in create note view)

- It should be possible to turn off translations

There is a lot more that I'd say, but these hurt me the most I'd say. If you were interested, I could sketch up wireframes/prototypes with proposed modifications, because I will never be able to describe it as clearly as I see it in my head.

I think we more or less agree, but the properties here differ and there's room for more than one solution. For example - What you linked seems good but can't work for large groups at first glance (it also suffers from much more severe comms patterns analysis attacks).

Modifying the invite link to ping a coordinator for the final channel info (I.e. accept the invite) is easy to do and would eliminate the threat you outline. There might be other options like adding a password.

I don't object to the analysis so much as dismissing the entire approach as unsound. I'm advocating for constructive collaboration. (And I've got no dog in this fight, I'd love to work on this but I'm too busy with my other projects right now).

Amethyst is super cool when it comes to functionality. It does a lot of what I want, not all. but more than most. Unfortunately, the UI is so bad that I gave up on it several times because it caused me a great deal of pain.
