There was a power outage last night, these happen. Yesterday I found the heat-tape broken in our pump house, so I replaced it. But heat tape doesn't work in a power outage. And if I am sleeping when the power goes out, there's no way to take other actions. Time to figure out another layer of protection. Thankfully the temperature wasn't freezing last night.
Finally got the lock on my den. I need to keep my 1 & 3 year olds out, as they get into everything and accidentally destroy.
Time to make serious progress.

Yes, they breed. It's about keeping the dog away, and giving them a safe place to keep the eggs. We are trying to get them to use a bew location, we'll see if they take to it. Having a couple of vectors for them to exit and enter seems important. Best of luck

Cooking over an open flame. This was the first round for my two youngest, while my eldest wrapped the rest in bacon, with onion in between. Cleaned up an area of debris during this burn too. Creating some good memories with the kids.

Back at work, cleaning up the brush to plant more trees. Taking the cuttings and debris to build out this terraced walkway overlooking a wetland. I've seen so many more squirrels since adding trees that feed them. Hoping to see a lot more forest creatures as I diversify the forest ecology.
